piney, ease off the accelerator, my man. put the ferrari in first gear. there are no "rules" against talking smack or calling out another poster. had there been such, i imagine clutch or mango would have made a point of directing you to said rule(s). it's just that on this bbs we do have some people who has greater access to information than others. think of them like librarians who you have to talk to get the GOOD book that no one knows about. while, yes, they are still just librarians (still just posters), many people hold them in higher regard because of the info they may or may not possess. in doc rocket's case, he has proven to have that secret book. now, to a point, i agree with you. there are double standards on this board. for that i applaud you for "pushing the envelope" on this issue. say what you want, as long as it's not "out and out" offensive (ie. racism, hate mongering, etc.). i kind of enjoy the way it "gets some people's goat." baaaah. baaaaah. my only suggestion (if it's one you have not followed as of yet), would be to do a little research on some of the posters before you make DIRECT assaults on them. i'm not saying don't make the assault...go right ahead, if you find it has merit. besides, there are some people on here i don't care much for either (tho you haven't attacked them yet...). but do your research first. it could just be waiting another wek or so, until you figure that "posters" pattern, or knowledge base (be it cryptic [which is ok with me as long as i know that's your stilo], or be it sarcastic [which i hate beyond words, and would just as soon see them go far, far away]). hope that made sense.

The senior has no right to go around beating up freshmen but normally there is some level of respect shown towards the senior because he's been there longer and for the most part has a better understanding of how things work .. Nothing shapes a poster's behavior like IGNORING his/her contribution if you deem it inappropriate. I DO NOT know this from personal experience!! Understand that everyone who writes a line here WANTS IT TO BE READ AND RESPONDED TO BY EVERYBODY. If someone is out-of-line or off-track, just pick up the thread around them and they'll get the idea. PineTree, you obviously know your basketball, but your in-your-face style is too much sometimes. I think one of your very first posts was a sideways smack at a contribution that I had made to a thread. Remember, I called you PinHead? We spatted a little and I think have gotten on with life on the BBS. You have too many intelligent things to say about hoops to waste your and our time and energy with these personal assaults. Yes, you've been the target of them too, but I think you'll find that most of the time you started them PROBABLY WITHOUT EVEN REALIZING IT. People come here to celebrate and exchange ideas and argue good-naturedly for their point-of-view. No winner is crowned. I hope this saga ends because I really do like your basketball ideas. Big sigh. Pinetree, this is the oldest story in the world. Clutchcity.net is a community like any other. It has a history. Each member participates and engages other members and over time builds a reputation. You've arrived in the middle of this history and haven't paid attention to what has gone before. It's like you flicked on the TV, watched half a set of the French Open, and concluded, "How the hell did they let this Sampras guy in the tournament?" It takes time to earn the respect of others. Clutch has been earning it for years. Doc has earned it from Clutch, and gradually, through Clutch's vouching, from the rest of us. You're new. You have brains, and you have ideas, but you haven't earned any respect yet, and by disregarding that aspect of the situation, you've demonstrated the old truth that brains are one thing and judgment is another. Threatening to use your strategic cleverness to put pressure on the owner of the site just underscores that difference in the most embarrassing way. Nobody around here is perfect or sacrosanct. But that doesn't mean everyone's equal. You've picked a fight with a member who has more experience here, more contributions to the site, more credibility, and more support from the guy whose management of this community has enabled it to flourish while other sites have withered. The deck is stacked against you. You call that injustice. I call it life. This isn't a high school debate. It's a society. Show better judgment, build respect, and people will listen more seriously to what you have to say. If you were an idiot, I wouldn't tell you this. But you've written some pretty scintillating stuff here and there. I agree with Rich Rocket. Pinetree I enjoyed hearing what you had to say about basketball. It's fun jesting and talking basketball smack but your blantaly ribbing Doc Rocket because he failed to give a source was absurd. Everybody here knew that the information given was sourced from a national archive. That was an interesting topic that was steered off course by your making a personal issue about it. No matter what your personal opinions, I'm sure most people are amazed at how big this board has become. It has given hundreds of people ways to spend their free time. I'm sure it has cost a few companies money from their employees being on here instead of working.. but that's the companies problem Doc Rocket..
