Nuh-uh. Rockets are big stupid heads if they trade for Bynum and I hereby announce to everyone that I WILL NEVER EVER WATCH THEM AGAIN if Bynum is traded to the Rockets.

 

I don't like the guy and his injury history scares me, but you are not giving him much credit here. You are right that it is an era of really bad centers, but he's definitely a top 5 low-post scoring threat in the league and maybe top 3.

His footwork drastically improved over the last two years, making him nearly unstoppable in the paint. The problem last year was that his pushover head coach and egotistical shooting guard didn't get him the ball enough. He's about to be every bit as good as Yao was in the low post during Yao's best years -- I think any of us would take that back in a heartbeat.

 

Bynum is still immature, but he channels his anger onto the court, ala KG. The bad is he also loses his temper and does idiotic things. Phil isn't there to keep him on the Karma leash anymore, and we saw what happened with Mike Brown trying to reign him in, dude thought he could shoot 3s and nobody would say anything to him. Immature all the way.
Figures though, the Lakers have one bad season in the past 15 years and it nets them a franchise big. There is no luckier team on the planet. I remember when Bynum was drafted as a snot nosed 17 year old who wouldn't even take down his myspace page. I don't think anybody thought he'd ever bloom into the dominant force that he is right now. He's a head case and a possible cancer, but there is no denying his ability.

Gasol on the other hand is criminally underrated on this forum and it never ceases to amaze me. He's the most offensively skilled big since Duncan. He gets some sort of "soft" label, and at times he has been tentative or submissive, but keep in mind the nature of being second fiddle to Kobe, he understood his role. He can score so effortlessly at times and is a very intelligent basketball player. He's not a spring chicken, but a skill set like that doesn't start to diminish this early.

 

Some people (shaq) feel like Bynum is better than d12

 

I'm almost hoping to end up with those two.

 

I think the twin towers of Bynum and Gasol are > D12.

Bynum's low post game is devastating, and you can see that his touch and moves around the hoop are more polished than Dwight's. Gasol is also an excellent post player in addition to being the best high post big man in the game. Having those two touch the ball every possession instead of the most overrated player ever, Kobe, jack up threes would really show how potent they are.

 

I think Bynum is a better offensive player but he doesn't play with the same energy as Dwight. Dwight is also a better defensive player.

That is one hell of a starting line up. Easily can compete in the west. Not sure about depth though.

 

Dwight doesn't want to play in LA, and the Lakers don't want to "rent" Dwight. Stop posting these line ups, it disgusts me.

 

Not trying to sound like a Kobe homer, but I'm pretty sure if Kobe couldn't win with them the last two seasons, they sure as hell aren't gonna win one here.

Does everyone feel the same way about acquiring Bynum if the lakers get Howard and the Magic get a bunch of 1st round picks?

Personally, I'd rather use our picks to move up and get some young players to build around. Once they're here, PLAY THEM. I don't know why the Rockets are so adverse to playing younger guys and letting them learn on the job.

 

Your trade proposal makes you look like more of a Lakers fan than even Morey.

I like Pau Gasol, I'd take him over Howard's b***y self, but why, why, why would we pay so much to get him?

I know you throw Morris in because you think he's a bust. You seem dead set on that so I won't try to change your mind but I think the kid can play.

So, we'd give up Scola (okay, but not worthless at all), the #14, the #16, Marcus Morris, and, say, Dalembert, and wind up with PAU GASOL?

No. Way.

I know where you're going with this. We tried to overpay for Gasol before, having a plan to re-sign Chuck and add Nene, and we could overpay again with other complimentary pieces as our goal.

Even then, no.

 

Kobe jacked up shots when Bynum and Gasol were clearly better options.

A lineup of Dragic / Lee / Parsons / Gasol / Bynum would be strong at every position.l

 

Since people are carrying on about Bynum now, which I understand, chaos being the operative word at the moment, I just thought I would point out that he has one year left on his deal, and could walk after next season as well. Food for thought, don't you think?

I just started reading this thread today. I had to stop to reply to this.

Just thinking outloud... scenarios like this... if this sort of **** were to happen, Morey would have to be a ****ing magician.

I'd take Bynum without his history of injuries over Howard...hands down. The knucklehead thing doesn't bother me. He's still so young. It gets tricky here though.

Can you make a guy with his injury history the cornerstone of a franchise? How long before he's done? Lots of downside risk....

That said, Bynum's just now starting to turn from a manchild into a full grown monster....and will blow up even more if he gets out of LA.

He's lived in LA his whole life, has the close relationship with the Buss's, the Lakers have so much invested in him ....and have reaped returns.

Still, maybe they WILL sell high because of the injuries. I would.

 

We are hearing Dwight won't re-sign in Houston for sure. Have faith that it will get done ...

... because Deron Williams' signing will follow to form the next super friends. One way or the other ... we have our star (Dwight leaves, we still have Deron).

Side note implies he wants to keep draft picks. Not happening since it's in past-tense.

The draftees names are an indication of what pick the Rockets have deals for. Estimated, Drummonds = top 10, Moultrie/Lamb/Ross = top 20. Rockets will have 4 first round picks flipped for Dwight.

The universe comment means that it's a done deal. In another universe other than reality, he would be happy if everything was different with the Rockets actually using the picks.
