Whne I was at that Celtics game I knew R. Davis would have a good second half. I mean, he just proves to be a matchup problem for us. That said, I couldn't help but think the entire time how in the history of basketball in years to come, no one will ever remember him, except for his pathetic excuse to get a triple double.

And you respect Tim Thomas more? He's a lazy $10 million scrub who never did anything with his talent, instead challenging players like Kenyon Martin to fights. The Celtics were pissed at him because he intentionally elbowed Pierce's grill earlier in the season, causing him to endure hours of oral surgery. The officiating in the game was atrocious, too... I don't blame them one bit for melting down.

Talent-wise, Davis is head and shoulders above everyone on the Rockets not named McGrady or Yao and the only Celtic playing all-star basketball right now IMO. And contrary to what people who never meet him personally say, he is a good citizen (not a single off-court incident), a team player (who was willing to relinquish his starting role to a scrub like Jiri Weslch) and is in no part of anything that's wrong with the NBA... unless you find something wrong with an exciting player who works hard on his game.

Not if he wins a ring. As of right now, Sura has better chance of winning one than Ricky Davis. :D

    Good thread

Doc sounds like a great guy.

He ran to get Pierce away from Sura.

Pierce was interacting wtih the crowd afterwards..which was pretty cool..maybe he was being mean and cocky or whatever..but still cool lol

Ricky D..I didn't like him when we were playing them..but he really did do good..he's athletic and made some outside shots. But talking trash should be part of the game. Just for competitive spirit..no violence needed

Didn't Jordan basically say the same thing about Doug Collins and he did a solid job in Detroit later down the road.

So that gives him free reign to act like a jackass? That "exciting player" has a reputation for being an ass, that's what got him run out of Cleveland to begin with.

Sura wasn't giggling like an idiot after trying to get the triple-double like Davis did. That's why he grates on people's nerves.

And atleast Sura managed to snag 2 trip doubles b4 that fiasco. Davis has yet to record even one to my knowledge.

Then maybe his reputation is undeserved. People think he's a felony conviction waiting to happen just because he was a selfish player in Cleveland.

Paul Silas IIRC was what got him traded - and they got almost nothing in return for him (none of the players they traded for are still on the Cavs roster.) As a Celtics fan, I'm glad they have have Ricky and the Cavs don't ;)

His reputation is deserved because he was/is a selfish player. You dont have to be a "felony conviction waiting to happen" to be an @ss. He earned that reputation with his own actions and his mouth.

In Cleveland, he could not stand the rising stardom of Lebron. It was biting him that a teenager was stealing his spotlight.

The problem with Davis is that he thinks he is a star player but in fact he is a very good role player. He is ok with coming off of bench with the Celtics because he still gets a number of field goal attempts right next to Pierce and Walker, is in the lineup to finish the games, and gets ample opportunities to have the ball in the last minutes.

Like I said, IMO, Davis is a very good role player. But if he is the main show on a team, like he wants to be, then that team is going to be good-very good depending on what other players they have on that team but not one of the title contenders.
