so shopping your player behind his back after telling him to play through an injury which might have worsened it isnt dirty?
NO IT WONT. holy ****, what is so hard to comprehend here? the same way Dr. Clanton's reputation precedes him is the exact same way tmac's reputation would precede him to any athlete that would use Dr. Clanton's services... tmac is W-E-A-K... he had the reputation in toronto. and orlando. and now here. it's like a bunch of children just wandered into a conversation.
I've already covered this in my previous posts: 1.You say his clients already know he's the best, but that's his ucrrent clients, who he has developed a relationship and trust with. It's the new clients that MAY be a problem to him. Of these new clients, yes some are sane and reasonable and won't think much of the tmac incident, BUT not everyone is this way. There's no rule that says only the sane and reasonable can see doctors, there's patients who naturally don't trust doctorss for whatver reason, or are scared to death of surgery, etc. This tmac situation would affect THEM. Now you may say big deal that's just a few people, but if it was your career wouldn't you go the extra mile to ease the mind of those types of clients as well? 2. You said that if the research is done properly they'll find out it was the rehab that was screwed up..but prior to the doc's conference this was only an assumption. It only became the official reason after he said tmac cameback too early from rehab. That's why the doc saved some of his rep by doing this (yes i know his rep is great, but even if it only saved %1 of his rep, that may still mean something to him). Dont look at it from your point of view, but his. To you he may be a world class surgeon who's got more clients than he can count and probably has a waiting list, so to you it may seem silly for him to worry about it, perhaps if he never says anything he only loses 5 possible patients, which may not be much to him, but if he does say something then maybe he only loses 2 patients, again, the difference of 3 may not seem like much to us, but to the doc it may. Think of pro athletes, one guy can earn 25 mill a year already, which is more than enough for us, so if he's fighting for one more million it seems silly to us because why need 1 mill if you already have 25??? But maybe he already has plans for all that money so it's worth it to him.
He's looking out for his own image, not so much tmac's...there's always going to be a small blemish in his career because of this situation, all he's doing is turning that already small blemish, into an even smaller blemish. He can't completely erase it because he does share some blame in this. the only way to fix it would be for him to say he wasn't at fault, but he can't really say that so the next best thing to fixing it is controlling the damage and keeping it as small as possible, so he'd rather make it official that the mistake was a minor one instead of leaving all the rumors out there that may imply the mistake was much bigger.
Shopping him behind his back? You dont think teams contact the Rockets regarding our own players? If someone calls Morey and asks about Yao and throws around a few players for Yao...does that mean that the Rockets are shopping Yao behind his back? The only way it would have been a dirty move for the Rockets would have been if we traded TMac...and decided to let him find out through ESPN. The proper way of handling things would be to let TMac know that a trade is going to go down before it actually does go down. This is a business...but there should be a right and wrong way about handling things. TMac can do what he wants with his body (going against many doctor's advices that he doesnt need surgery). Thats fine. But tell your team. Likewise, the Rockets can do what they want with their players (Trade them). Thats okay. But, tell the players when a deal is imminent so that they find out from the GM/owner instead of the media.
