i sure as hell am blaming the doctor if he's coming out and making that statement.. as a patient you rely a lot on what the doctors tell you.. and he's supposedly one of the best doctors out there.. this whole situation just reeks
You dont think there will be a difference in return for TMac depending on how the league views him? Youre dead wrong if you think that just because he is an expiring contract that every team will throw players our way. If we want to get the most return for him, we need him looking like he's healthy and willing to rehab to the fullest.
Its an expiring contract.....for 2010!! Anyone who trades for T-Mac will be his contract and not for his "goods". The only similarities with him in Marbury is that they're getting at least 20 Million in their final contract. The Doc taking the blame still means T-Mac gets surgery. He is "damaged goods" regardless. I don't get how les comments about not shopping him, but according to everyone else he was being shopped, makes anything look better? If you ask me, it makes the team look shady and could scare away free agents and even guys we need to resign. You say Player A is not going to be traded, but the newspapers say Player A is being shopped. Athletes don't like those games.
Other than McGrady not being committed enough to rehab last summer (and we really don't know what he was instructed to do by the team, and to what extent he followed that), what else can we blame him for?
Les came out and stated that TMac would not get traded when it was pretty much determined that he was done for the season. Its not like Les has been saying that for months while they were secretly looking to move him behind the scenes. Once it was apparent that TMac was searching for a doctor that would disagree with the other top surgeons in the country, then it was also apparent that TMac would be sitting the season out. Thus, Les coming out and saying that his "superstar" would not be traded.
Apparently we can blame him for quitting on the team even though he tried to play through the injury numerous times.
Do you find it odd that right before the trade deadline, TMac announces to ESPN that he needs surgery? Looks to be that he did what he could to avoid getting traded...the timing was impeccable!
How does the Doc taking the blame make him look more healthy? Last I checked, he is still getting surgery if the Doc took the blame or not. Surgery that could be extremely hard to come from. T-Mac has injury problems throughout his career so there is nothing that can shake off that stigma. Any team that trades from him knows his health history. A doctor taking the blame doesn't make him less injury prone.
He would have flunked the freakin' physical. This is getting pretty rediculous, IMO. McGrady's done enough for everyone to be ticked off at him, already. This should get in the rearview mirror.
That's what it looks like. But that would just be speculation on our part. The most solid thing I can think of that we can blame him for (beyond the way he announced the end of his season -- obviously the wrong way to do that) is that he didn't rehab properly in the summer. And even on that there are details missing.
Everyone is questioning TMac's work ethic off the court...saying that he doesnt do what is necessary to get back onto the court at 100%. When the doctor says that he let TMac come back too early, then the blame for improper rehab is placed on the team instead of on the player. Again, this surgery, although its called "microfracture" is different than what most others have gone through. We are talking 0.5 cm on a non-weight bearing portion of the knee. If you are going to recover from microfracture surgery, this is the one you want getting done to you. Regardless, rehab will need to be done and you want a player that can rehab properly...if the word is out that TMac does not have what it takes to rehab to the fullest extent, then it may cause some suitors to back off. However, if the blame for not rehabbing properly is placed on the team, then the Rockets may be able to cash in on TMac fully.
i believe everything started from there. and when the going gets tough, he was really unprofessional in what he did on and off the court. if you read the feigen story and his blog on this, you'd know clanton really didn't concede anything.
you didn't get what i was saying, did you? marbury expires in a couple of months, not after next year. did you see anyone trade for his fat contract that is similar to mcgrady's?
Tyson Chandler flunked his physical because of his toe, and the physical was administered by the very same physician that operated on him and declared him fit to play for the Hornets. Of course, Chandler's toe situation isn't anywhere as serious as McGrady's knee is... You must be kidding if you think McGrady in his state at the time would have passed a real physical for any team that wanted to trade for more than just his contract.
the Rockets nor their doctor are risking a damn thing here... everybody knows damn well that mcgrady is lazy. hell, tmac himself even admitted earlier this year that he didn't even bother to properly rehab his knee after his surgery this past summer.
I would just say what TMac and his fans want to hear: Blame all the doctors because none of them could find what exactly TMac's problems Blame the GM and the Coaches for pushing him to play when he's not ready Blame his teammates for not supporting him when he had those 1-9 shooting, zero defense nights Blame the Rocket fans for demanding his fragile body to play defense and attack the rim If none of the aboves happened, TMac would still be playing, and then give us another top 3 playoff performance and another first round exit.
The only people questioning his work ethic after an injury are these fans here. The only people that are saying he didn't rehab correctly are these fans here. I haven't read anywhere else that says he didn't rehab like he was suppose to. Also, why don't you look at both sides of this so called "PR Move"? Sure it may make it easier to move T-Mac but do you think players want to sign and play for a team where their Doctor messed up? Probably not. I doubt the Rockets would want to risk scarring off potential free agents. Since when did fans become smarter than GMs? Don't you think that if the average fans looks at this as a PR move, the teams and GMs aren't seeing the same thing? So even if this was a PR move, its pretty clear other teams and their GMs know its damage control so that won't help either. Unless you think their are all dumbasses and only you guys "know" its a PR move.
what fantasy world do you live where you take these comments at face value? is this your first time? be honest.
Doctor A may flunk a player for something while 20 other doctors dont flunk a player for the same thing. Chandler flunking his physical has zero relevance to TMac's situation. And really, an MRI on TMac's knee has showed no change...Dr. Andrew's, the most renowned sports surgeon in the country, has said that TMac's knee can be played on and does not need surgery. Other top surgeons have said the same thing. The ONLY reason TMac is having surgery is because he kept getting opinions until he found a doctor that would do the surgery. Besides, the doctor just gives a recommendation to the team...a player can flunk a physical, but if the team still wants that player, the trade can still go through.
