"Professor Logan" Classic! I'm going to see it again by myself next week. "Find the humans" Scary. ***** (out of five)
Yes, I concur. I also understand how and why certain elements and storylines have to change when made into a movie. It seems like they have lain the groundwork for 2-4 more sequels. I'm sure the Phoenix storyline will have Cyclops involved much more. You also have Pyro being recruited as well as all the cameos by future players. Definitely 5 stars.
Yeah, yeah, okay, I know. You do kind of do a double take when you find yourself complaining about a hot chick being naked all the time. Still, the other stuff bothers me. And actually, that makes me think of something else wrong with Mystique: she shouldn't be able to survive more than about 30 seconds one-on-one with Wolverine! Oh well. It would be boring if she got killed anyway.
Figures, the same dude who would go to great lengths to prove that Jordan doesn't deserve to be considered the best ever 1. How many 5' 3" actors are there out there who could pull this role off? None. Who cares if he's taller, I prefer it that way. Hell, in the new Ultimate X-Men line, they went ahead and made him 6 foot even. 2. Maybe he does know Sabretooth, but he just didn't say, trying to keep it a secret from the rest. Also, in the movie's version of the story, he doesn't remember anything from before the Weapon X program, so he probably just doesn't remember Sabretooth. Also, he definately wouldn't call a Rogue an idiot if he stabbed her, in the comic, he'd think fast and do the same thing he did at the end of the movie to save her life. Of course, he didn't know what her power was, so he did they only thing he could, call for help. 3. They've tried to bring Beast in twice, but whether it was money or not wanting so many blue characters, they've held off on it. I would argue that they should have put Beast in the way he used to be, before the blue fur. 4. Who in the world could have Jean's actual hair color in real life? She's got red hair, that's all that matters. 5. I agree, he's more than a smartass though, he's a sadistic murderer. 6. If she wore clothes, it would always be cover the form of the person she morphs into. Also, RRS is a babe. 7.
Nice, very nice. It really hit the spot and was one of the better sequels I have seen in a longggggggggggggg time. ***spoilers**** I couldn't believe Wolverine got his butt kicked so bad. That chick was bada$$ I didn't know Nightcrawler was a good guy? I think I confuse him with Toad. I want to see some Sentinels in X3, if/when they make it. Who was the kid with the metal chest/body armor? (Colossus...) If you look on the credits on imdb.com, there is a credit for The Beast, but I didn't see him??? (ahh I saw the explanation above, but I still don't remember him.) Was the guy in the wheelchair Jason a real guy in the comics? I don't remember him and it's strange that someone has more brainpower than Professor X. ***end*** I forgot to use my free ticket from XMen 1.5 so I might go see it again.
SPOILERZZZZZZ!!!!!!!! I thought it was pretty good. I don't read comic books or anything, so maybe the movie was just trying to be "true to form." But where were the bad mutants? Mystique and Magneto were the only ones, and they were good guys for about 75% of the movie. Mystique, once again, is BY FAR the coolest character. For some reason I just don't find the good guys as interesting. I liked Kelly Hu.
Isn't Kelly Hu's character a bad mutant? What about the Jason Stryker kid? That's 4, including Mystique and Magneto.
Nightcrawler is about as far from a bad guy as one can get. He is like this super religious guy who is persecuted for his appearance.
Well just got home from the show and I must say, that was a damn good movie. A few random thoughts: 1) Kelly Hu = Amazing amount of hotness 2) Well, cameo by one mutant and a reference to another. Hopefully the character list will expand for X3. 3) I WANT SENTINELS! 4) I do like the end shot, but they need it a bit more obvious for people who don't follow the comics. 5) I really hope they build up Colossus for X3. It seemed like he was one of the more important students. I still can't believe how big that damn kid is! 6) Alan Cummings is a pretty good Nightcrawler. Don't remember him being QUITE that religious before, but it's still good character development. All in all a definite improvement on X-Men and a very good setup for the next movie.
I think you're right on the reason why Gambit was cut from the film. I think that Colin Farrell would be the ideal Gambit. Too bad he is already a Marvel character in Daredevil and he might be too expensive for X3. I'm keeping my fingers crossed though because Farrell was born to play Gambit.
X2 was pretty bad@ss. I recommend watching X1 right before checking it out in the theatres. Possible Spoilers here: - Collossus, to Wolverine, "I can help you." I know I wasn't the only one wishing Wolverine would accept the offer. - Gambit will screw over Iceman in X3 - The phoenix saga... hopefully Sentinels will be used for the next film - Stryker's son reminds me of Legion (I think, who was Prof. X's son in the comics)
I still don't know who Jason, Stryker's son, is based on. I did some snooping and found the story that this movie borrows from. It was a graphic novel called "God Loves, Man Kills." Stryker was actually a Reverend. He was a former army Ranger I think and he worked at a nuclear plant. Anyways, he has a son who is an obvious mutant, so he kills him and his wife. Then he tries to kill himself, but survives. Anyways, he becomes crazy, thinks that God is telling him to rid the world of mutants, so he captures Xavier. I don't know what his plan was, but the X-Men do team up with Magneto to save him. Anyways, at Marvel's site, apparently they are launching a sequel story arc to God Loves, Man Kills. Stryker is back. This movie has got me excited. I think it's time I got back into buying some of the comics.
(This is all in good fun, of course...) 1. Yeah, I actually like Ultimate X-Men better in some ways. It definitely seems like they're basing the movies more off that than they are the originals. Still, I like a shorter canucklehead. Gives him more character. I'm not saying there's an actor out there who could actually pull it off, but hey...) 2. I was just pointing out that in the comics, Sabretooth was both Wolverine's half brother/cousin (as shown in Origin), and Sabretooth was also a chief figure in the artificial memories implanted in Wolvie's brain after Weapon X. Either way, he should not only know Sabretooth, he should hate his guts. As for Rogue, he'd call her an idiot, and then he'd call for help. 3. Yeah, it wouldn't have been that hard to have a hairless beast in there. In fact, I really didn't expect they'd give him the fur anyway. Why bother? He should've been in there. 4. Ah, you've never heard of Fay Masterson I see... 5. Aww, he's not so bad once you get to know him. 6. Yeah, I'm just a purist. I really shouldn't have a problem with that. I am a red-blooded male, after all. 7. Hmmm... the Toad I was thinking of must have been from some alternate storyline. Maybe it was actually a different Toad? Oh well. I just saw X2, btw, and honestly I don't think it was as good as you guys are hyping it up to be. It was better than the first one, and I enjoyed it, but it wasn't fabulous. I don't want to spoil any of the movie's plot, so I'll stop there.
Sean Bean would make a good Gambit in X3 I bet. Already guessing who's going to play what role when the new mutants are introduced if a 3rd movie is made
Ah...no matter where you go, there'll always be a comic fanboy complaining. Just kiddin'. Seriously, though....I never understood basing the problems with a movie on the medium from which it was adapted. Its not going to follow the comics (or the book) because it can't. Its a totally different method of creation. For being an action movie based on the comic characters, it was damn good.
!!!POSSIBLE SPOILERS!!! Deathstrike (Kelly Hu) isn't really a mutant, right? She's an army experiment like Wolverine, and she's not even on the same side as Magneto. And yeah, I guess Jason Stryker is a bad mutant too, but I'm talking like the "badass" bad mutants, if you know what I mean. Nightcrawler was better when he was a "bad guy." The first scene was frickin' awesome. In fact, the action scenes as a whole, where great. However, like the first one, I just thought that a lot of the characters in the movie were pretty boring. Namely, Rogue, Jean Grey, Cyclops (the dullest of them all), Storm, Iceman, and Pyro. I think a lot of it has to do with there just being too many characters too give everyone enough time, especially when you waste so much of it on a human like Stryker.
Wolverine is a mutant. He was regenerative and healing powers that are off the charts. He was given the admantium blades and all of his bones plated with the 'unbreakable' metal because his body could handle the proceedure. I assume that Hu's character was similarly afflicted.
Got'cha. I think I forgot they explained that in the first movie. I just was surprised that Magneto didn't have more followers in the movie. Is that the way it is in the comic books? Just him and Mystique?
