Yeah it's a pretty good idea. The keys to the cars are already inside, and you just unlock the car door with your iPhone/Blackberry, or by swiping your member card against the windshield. There's a gas card in the car as well (it's pretty much like a credit card that can only be used at gas stations), and gas is included with every reservation. I don't use it much (rarely need a car), but I did use it on Monday night to drive over to the grocery store. Made a 1-hour reservation 5 minutes before I left my apartment, and it cost me about $7.50 with tax...not bad at all.
You can extend your reservation using the smartphone app, or by calling in (as long as no one else already has the car reserved). If someone has the car reserved and you're still late, you get charged $50.
My daily driver and SUV gets the Mister Car Wash Unlimited Wash package (for only $30/month, an express wax+wash and hand dry in under 5 minutes is too convenient). The more expensive car is washed/waxed/detailed by me every other month since it stays very clean as I only drive it on pleasant weekends.
I wash my own car when I can, though it's not too often, or it gets washed when I take it to body shops or the dealership for work, or rain is free too.
what are the names of these awesome car washes? I go to bubbles after all of the self service places near me closed.
Car Spa is great for a total car clean. It includes inside detail plus wash, wax (Meguiars), and buff . I do it around big weekends when I will be out and about (Labor Day , Memorial Day, etc). I clay bar 4 times a year also.
Crackheads at the carwash off of Hardy and Collingsworth will leave your car looking clean...black magic on the tires and everything. Just make sure you keep an eye on them and put anything valuable in you glove box.
