Its not what I see in rafer its what RA sees in SF or the lack there of. Its like we swapped out vspan for SF. The reason I responded is because I can and I dont like seeing 5 threads dedicated to a player who's most significant recent and not worthy accomplishment is receiving a 30 million dollar buyout.
Some players are NOT, I mean NOT, born to be good in trainning camp or anything like that, they are just for fighting in a real game, which does really count!!
I was at home, in Tucson ARIZONA and I was screaming from half way through the 3rd quarter till about half way through the 4th "WE WANT STEVE!"
And therein lies the crux of the issue. I keep hearing folks say and post this again and again and again without offering a single shred of evidence to support this assertion that SF3 is somehow now a "different" player. It's just taken as a matter of faith that 4 years in the NBA wilderness has transformed the one formerly known as the Franchise into a mature and different player. Indeed, the only evidence that exists on the current incarnation of SF3 to date comes from the recent training camp when he showed up out of shape and had serious problems learning Adelman's offensive system which while hardly conclusive does give me sufficient cause to trust Adelman's judgement in the matter. The problem with Francis was never his athletic ability but rather his judgement, attitude and understanding of how to play basketball in a team context. Until he can show otherwise, this will always be a question mark about him. I can see giving him a chance but I can also see him lapsing into the old SF3 which means TOs and out of control drives into the lane and bricks. That's why I feel that he is not answer to the guard play problems. In fact, the guard they really need may have to be acquired in a trade.
like him or not,he's an asset, if the others have out played him and are all not getting it done, why noy try him out,the worst taht can happen is he can say "there i played him, shut up now!! without tmac francis should help hold the fort...luther is not getting it done.
Well, just by looking at the small sample of games he played in the preseason, he looked like a changed player to me. He tried moving the ball around, and the only times he would dribble the clock out was near the end of the quarter. Sure, you can say he "held" the ball too long at times or whatever but the offense was still brand new. In fact, this current group of guys still play ISO at times and still stand around the perimeter. The majority of the time when Francis attacked the basket, resulted in two points or free throws. I'm not saying he's perfect but we could use his ability to create his own shots and for others. Not to mention that he can finish strong or draw the foul.
Right but everything you said here can also be said about Mike James as well and he's sucking wind right now. The truth is that all of the current group of guards (save for Brooks because he's a rookie) suffer from the same malady: they are extremely streaky shooters and that's the one thing that hasn't changed from last year. Also, while I can agree he's a changed player physically, his mental makeup is the issue here. l have yet to see anything to lead me to believe that he's a different player mentally. In his mind, he's still The Franchise. That's his core identity what drives him. He really wouldn't be SF3 if he believed otherwise and everything else he does flows from that belief in his ability.
yeah there still a lot of iso in games especially from mcgrady but he does kick it out to the open man on a pick and roll. Steve does this alot where he penetrates and the defense collapse on him and he is able to dish it off. Remember all the Kelvin Cato alley-ops and when he passed it to Jim Jackson to win the playoff game against the Lakers. He can create shots for others and isn't scared to drive if there is no other options. I'm a believer he can be a great substitute since Mcgrady will be gone for a bit
Are you sure? Is it because he has court time? Or is it because he lost a couple hundred pounds? Observe the differences between Bonzi on the Rockets last year and how he looked on the Kings. Figure 1: Steve needs to lose weight. From someone on 610 (don't remember who) describing Steve in practice, he looked like he was 8 months pregnant. If he loses some weight, gets in shape, and stops his whining, GIVE HIM A CHANCE. Until then, he's a waste of talent. And if he doesn't ever want to get in shape, cut him and grab Harris. At least he gave a crap.
<br> the way our pg are playing WE DONT ONLY WANT STEVE. WE NEED STEVE or hell any other pg, But STEVE needs a chance
I voted yes. And I watched him play with Yao before, and it was not bad (they went to playoff together anyway). Now with TMac out for a couple of games, I would really like to see him play P&R with Yao. If I remembered right, even his outside shot was not bad, compared with Rafer's, maybe not as good as MJ's. But right now, even MJ's outside shot sucks. I would even like him to start over MJ, because I just don't think MJ passes well. MJ should always come off the bench.
