    And those responsible...?

Getting away with it. What was it that Colin Powell said?

"The world is beginning to doubt the moral basis of [America's] fight against terrorism."

Indeed. If that basis ever existed, it's now just a joke.

You disagree that posting articles without links is against the rules of the bbs?

I know that you are guilty of breaking that rule before, but bringing up the rules of the bbs doesn't make someone a twit.

You never answered why you falsely claimed that the part of the article that disagreed with your stance was behind a subscriber wall.

while i completely agree, i have hope. i dont think obama wants to deal with this, but holder and the senate will simply have to. there's too much pressure. and as more and more documents are released, there will be international pressure too.

plus cheney being a dick doesn't create any sympathy.

Certainly - but there's an argument to be made that the best way to proceed is to set in place laws & rules & regulations that ensure it never happens again.

Our gov't has done a lot of wretched things over time. It was founded writing into the Constitution that certain people count as 3/5ths of a person and that slavery was legal. But when we fixed that, we didn't go back and prosecute everyone who validated that line of thinking. We basically said "we're going to do better going forward".

and you made a comment about batman's post earlier? Niiiiiiiiiice.

Since you have nothing to say to defend your false claim about needing a subscription to read the part of the story trashed your stance on the issue, then you may consider yourself exposed, though most here probably already knew what you were about long ago.

We did go back and prosecute in a way. We had a war where we killed many of the people engaged in slavery, then we occupied the South for a generation where there was plenty of punishment going on.

We didn't have Nuremberg trials or anything, but there was retribution for slavery.

Those rules and regulations already existed, Major. Not enforcing them is just an excuse to whitewash away that which makes us uncomfortable.

Furthermore, the idea of "never happening again" is disengenuous. History would indicate to me that any such notion is more than naive, it's utterly delusional. You cannot change human nature, but you can attempt to rectify past transgressions and punish those responsible.

Principles are meaningless if you don't aggressively defend and enforce them.

We've had laws and rules and regulations since WWII and before. This happened because a group of people thought they were above the law. We need to show them and the world they are not. This happened because a group of people who could have called attention to this did not. We need to show them and the world that such cowardice is not acceptable.
