Also, there are some people may argue that a superstar like James Harden can actually help some struggling small market to sell more ticket at worse, well, I got this news for you, what kind of fans would like to watch this forking boring of walking up the court with 17 seconds left and dribbling the ball to pass with 2 seconds left style of play? Welcome to the reality.
This thread proves that 25% of clutchfans users are morons. Maybe less if there are people who had the dignity to not vote / post in this thread ... People here would complain about prime MJ/ Hakeem/ Lebron . No player is perfect . The truth is that unless all other options are exhausted you don't trade a current top 10 nba player for hope that you can replace it in the future .
Being said that, James Harden is still a star player, he is just a broken star. But same as for many unproven potential star players, yes potential is great, but not guaranteed to work out as projected. So unless the Rockets will get some kind of offers which such potential star players has less chance of failure, they will probably stick with Harden without any other options. Same as for other teams, Harden's problem is so glaring, unless they are completely give up on their own potential stars, no one will want to make such deal. And no, Morey will not trade Harden to Boston for Isaih Thomas and bunch of craps plus some mid first round pick, that will be idiotic.
So at first you calling out others being the morons, And then you tried to prove your points by comparing Harden to MJ / Dream / Lebron? LOL
We're was the great insight from you last season when everyone and there mom was saying he was the real mvp of the league? Some of you knee jerk way to much. And plenty teams would trade every asset they can for harden he's still manning a team that is close to the playoffs prob will make the playoffs and has avg 50 wins a year as the main guy 3 staright years? So if the rockets close out the season 20-7 and get to that 5th seed and beat the clips, we should prob still trade him because 55 games of mediocre play from the team trumps 250 games of 50+ win basketball? Something's doesn't add up.
Star (or semi-star) players aren't really traded for other stars. Few examples Carmelo Anthony traded for Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Timofey Mozgov, cash, a 2012 2nd round draft pick (Quincy Miller), a 2013 2nd round draft pick (Romero Osby) and a 2014 1st round pick Chris Bosh traded for a 2011 1st round draft pick (Norris Cole) and a 2011 1st round pick (Jonas Valanciunas). Toronto also received a trade exception from Miami. This was the same 1st round pick that Toronto had previously traded to Miami on February 13, 2009. Kevin Garnett traded for Ryan Gomes, Gerald Green, Al Jefferson, Theo Ratliff, Sebastian Telfair, a 2009 1st round draft pick (Wayne Ellington) and a 2009 1st round pick (Jonny Flynnd). Pau Gasol traded for Kwame Brown, Javaris Crittenton, Marc Gasol, Aaron McKie, a 2008 1st round pick (Donte Greene) and a 2010 1st round draft pick (Greivis Vasquez). Dwight Howard traded for Arron Afflalo, Al Harrington, Maurice Harkless, Nikola Vucevic, Christian Eyenga, Josh McRoberts, a future 1st round pick, a 2017 1st round pick, a 2013 2nd round pick (Romero Osby) and a 2014 1st round draft pick LeBron James traded for a 2011 2nd round pick (Milan Macvan), a 2012 2nd round draft pick (Jae Crowder), a 2013 1st round pick (Nemanja Nedovic) and a future 1st round pick. Cleveland also received a trade exception from Miami. Cleveland had the option to swap 1st round draft picks with Miami in 2012 but did not do so. Joe Johnson traded for Boris Diaw, a 2006 1st round pick (Rajon Rondo) and a 2008 1st round draft pick (Robin Lopez). Joe Johnson traded for Jordan Farmar, Anthony Morrow, Johan Petro, DeShawn Stevenson, Jordan Williams, a 2013 1st round pick (Shane Larkin) and a 2017 2nd round pick. Kevin Love traded for Anthony Bennett, Andrew Wiggins and a trade exception. Chris Paul traded for Al-Farouq Aminu, Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman and a 2012 1st round pick (Austin Rivers) Rajon Rondo traded for Jae Crowder, Jameer Nelson, Brandan Wright, a 2015 1st round pick and a 2016 2nd round pick. (2015 pick is conditional. Boston also receives $13M trade exception.) Deron Williams traded for Derrick Favors, Devin Harris, cash, a 2011 1st round pick (Enes Kanter) and a 2013 1st round pick (Gorgui Dieng) Oh those were just two examples. I'm sure there's more teams/players that did something that folks said would NEVER happen. Somehow the ****tiest coach in NBA history (CF told me) took the two ****ty stars and company to the WCF. That was NEVER gonna happen, right! NEVER! Did the good star players take the ****ty coach to the WCF? or Did the good coach take the ****ty stars to the WCF? That's a hard one for the board to answer. Oh wait, they were lucky! Rockets didn't do anything. The other teams gave it to them! Right? Never? What does that mean? Never? Can you see-read-predict the future? Never? Never gonna happen. Never gonna do it. Never this. Never that.
Charles Barkley was fat and lazy early in his career but that team had Moses Malone, Andrew Toney, Bobby Jones and Dr. J to sort him out. Harden has....uh.....yeah, right. DD
I'd only trade him for Ben Simmons and a scorer like IT or Sweet Lou depending on if the Lakers or Celtics had the pick.
That is a thing of the past. GMs would rather fill their roster spots with young prospects instead of veteran presence. I think the Wolves are doing a great job for their young guys having KG, Tayshaun Prince, Andre Miller, and Kevin Martin.
People overrate Offense and underrate Defense nowadays. Both are relevant but in the playoffs Defense is key and Offense is just butter to the bread.
Yup he should be. I'm not going to burst any bubbles, but let me just say I hope you truly enjoy watching your franchise player be another T-mac who doesn't give a damn about staying in shape, working hard, doing everything what it takes to win. The guy is maybe your only shot at anything, but you know what, I rather have no shot with a team like we had in 2010-2012 than this. Anything over this really. We could offer having T-mac because of Yao but since Dwight is not a star who can carry a team, we are doomed with a guy like Harden. For people saying you won't get anything back, I'm sure you can at least get one young prospect and one very good player.
