You could have sleep apnea and you're trying to get air.

    I definitely twitch at night.

Although my biggest complaint from multiple ex's has been that I sleep with my eyes open. Not completely open but fairly close. But the twitching thing has been an issue as well.

    sigh.. :(

I twitch almost as soon as passing over to the "asleep" mode. At times, I've been asleep, dreaming I'm doing something like running or jumping, and when I'm about to do something drastic like catching a ball, falling on my face, or getting scared, my body in the real world does a jerk/twitch.

Once, someone in my dream threw a ball at me, and for some reason I didn't put up my face, but as soon as the ball was about to whack me in the face (put it in thee face, right?) I woke up trying to catch the ball in real life. Weird crap.

I ALWAYS notice people twitching. I don't go to sleep as fast as I want to when I want to, but fall asleep FAST when I don't want to. WTH?

i don't know how often i twitch in my sleep, but i know occassionally i'll wake myself up with a twitch that's usually due to something in a dream.

my dog would twitch all the time in his sleep. looked like he was running in a dream or something.

It's tough to say, but it could very well be cancer.

At first I read the question wrong as do I jerk off while asleep. Yes I do. I think that's serious medical condition.

Also I jerk when I sleep, not very often, usually in a dream. When I do that, I always dreaming I was jumping off a building or something, and that always wakes me up like a nightmare. Is this normal?

Happens to me to. That's what it means by falling asleep when your mind feels you have a responsibility to be awake.

It's so embarassing when you fall asleep in a lecture hall and you suddenly twitch and everyone around you is thinking WTF?

The poll results are interesting, most people replied Yes, but the people who actually posted did not.
