You arent answering the question though are you? The question is.... Do you think YOU could make a WNBA team.... Not your cousin is quite good, or one school has a boys team who beat the girls team.
No. Be realistic. Unless you can dunk you probably couldn't make it. Anyone ever played a good female basketball players? I played with two former UT women players who played in Europe. They were really good, we were playing with track stars and Limas Sweed too.
Women don't have a chance. Unless said woman is the greatest shooter on the planet and can hit 90% of her shots. There's a reason why the NBA is so popular. Better competition, better players, better talent all across the board. Fundamentals don't help you against physically gifted beasts like LeBron. Even Von Wafer could domiante in the WNBA. For example.. if JR Smith can average a triple double in China, he might go 40-20-20 in the WNBA.
I couldn't make a team, but any decent high school boys team would easily handle them. No knock on women's athletics but physically it's just not an even playing field.
I played on the scout team last year at University of Virginia and we would play five guys against the women's team in practices. We held our own, it mostly was evenly matched. I never played high school basketball but the other guys did.
My daughter's on a fairly elite 8th grade team. In 6th grade, they were just killing all their girl comp and the coach moved them into the 5th grade boys league for better competition. They dominated and even had the boys crying after a crushing win in the championship. In 7th grade, they moved up to the top 7th grade boys bracket and finished 2nd out of 8 (they couldn't handle a big skilled post). Meanwhile, they beat every 7th grade girls team in the state. 8th grade has been a similar story. Of course, they have two kids who were being recruited in 7th grade (by both colleges and prep schools from Portland, Seattle, and San Fran) and are in the feeder program for a HS team that just went 30-0, sent a 6'5" post to Stanford, and has at least 2 other future D1 players. That HS team is in tremendous shape, pretty darn quick, and knocks down 3s with regularity, including two who can go out to NBA distance. Against a collection of not terribly fit Y-leaguers who don't know how to break a press and weren't diligent about switching and getting out on shooters, the girls would win. When I watch daughter's team play boys, they always play as a team and the boys usually want to showboat and end up making stupid individual plays. I could see a good "team" of women beating the wrong collection of guys... you know the ones... if they dribble past halfcourt they are jacking up a shot and everyone should pass to them all the time because they are clearly the best.
I probably couldn't make the wnba but I wanted to comment in this thread that I am convinced Britney Greiner is a man.
