Heck those Sacramento teams were top5 defensive teams. RA knows about defense, I tell you. Something is very wrong here, but it's not only one element of the formula. We'll see.

Rick Adleman is a great coach on one end of the floor. He is also great at getting the most out of his players. Let's give him more time.

Need to bring in a better defensive coach like N O did this year.

Rick Adelman system is not terrible, during the games players get open shots, they just need to make those shots. Right now, Battier is terrible for our offense and defense appears to be lacking, hopefully he can get it together

How could I forget about some of the knee jerk garbage in the garm during the season? I just don't get some of you.

For those saying the Rockets D last year was awful, think about why it was. The Rockets had absolutely no size on the frontcourt. Hayes gave you everything he had, but it was far from enough. Landry while here was not a good defender, except for the occasional weakside block.

Coach and system are more than capable of taking the Rockets to the finals. I think the team is lacking balance and superstar talent. This team needs a leader on the court, we have very good players but not the guy that can take over and lead consistently.

Coach will find a rotation that will produce W's, but the Rockets need Morey to somehow land that superstar talent to make a run at the title.

It's four games guys, the team will be good, how good is yet to be determined. Once again be patient and trust the orginization will do all it can to build the winner we all want.

Our poor preformance has little to do with Adelman and more to do with our roster. Team ball is great getting buckets throughout the game but if you don't have a star to get his own quality shot off in the waning minutes of the game we're going to continue to lose like this. I actually have faith that the defense will fall into place with Dampier guarding the basket and that should take some of the pressure off our perimeter defenders.

Bring who ever you want in, the team as currently constructed isn't going to be favorites to win a title just by making a coaching change. Just like changing from JVG to Adelman didn't make us instant championship contenders.

I said this when they replaced JVG with Adelman. It's more about the players. I think Morey has done a great job reconstructing the roster considering how weak the supporting cast was when he took over and the injuries our "star" players in TMac and Yao have endured under his management. But until he can aquire a completely healthy franchise level player, the team is limited. Not to say the coaching couldn't be better than it has this season. But this is the same coach who barely missed the play offs last year with no Yao and no TMac when nationally we were expected to win 20 games or less. I expect they will still win 48+ games this year even if the team stays the same. But it would take a miracle for this team to have a shot at a title without a trade. To have a reasonable chance, we are going to need a franchise level player who can play most of the game every night. If basketball was 10 on 10 we would probably be undefeated with our depth. But unfortunately it's not, and having 1-2 great players more often than not will trump having a roster with 10 good players, assuming the supporting cast around those great players is not horrible.

Adelman's system is fine, we have lead at the half in every game and lead in the 4th qtrs of every game. The problem is execution and composure, they look lost and flustered at times. Set the dam rotation and let them play, play the same with or without Yao and let them get into their rhythm.

how many people here called for JVG's head and wanted Adelman when our offense was ugly?

Boy do we miss you Jeff.

Tell the kings to not choke at the free throw line in 2002 (GAME 7) and this thread is never made.

Adelman is FAR from from the issue. We played D in 2007-2008 and 2008-09. Back when we had TWO good perimeter defenders in the starting lineup.

We only have one now, and he looks like his skills are diminishing.

Yes we can win a championship, the key is also having a great superstar that can put the team over the top. we have Yao, so...........in the end if we don't win a championship i wouldn't blame it on Adelman.

    Yes, we can.

But not with this group as constructed. Not even close. Too many gaping holes on defense between AB, Martin, and Scola.

If you go back and look at his great Blazers and Kings teams, the Blazers were pretty solid across the board defensively ... not '08 Celtics good defensively, but they were certainly capable of good team defense. They just ran into Jordan and the Bulls. Part of winning a title with his system is timing ... if there's a dynasty looming, his teams aren't going to knock it down (unless we come across a player that can turn us into a dynasty).

The Kings team wasn't quite as good defensively, but Bibby, Christie, and Jackson were better as a group than AB and Martin. Webber, Divac, and Pollard were far better than Yao and Scola defensively. Peja was the only gaping hole, but with the rest of the team as solid defenders, it didn't matter. They just happened to run into the most dominant center in the game and Kobe.

We can do it with him if the timing is there (Kobe's run may be ending soon, hopefully the Heat will be beatable), we just have to bide our time to find a great player that can also play defense.
