  2. 2 more championships

    14.7%
  3. 3 more championships

    3.9%
  4. 4 or more championships

This question is too difficult to answer.....

I do believe the Rockets would have lost to the Sonics again in 1997 if the trade for Barkley hadn't been made.

With all due respect to the Glide, he was given the greenlight for the Rockets' final play of the game, and he took an awkward shot that left enough time on the clock for Utah to come back and break our hearts.

Agreed. The Rocket's would not have even been in the 96 conference finals if they still had Horry, instead of Barkely. He's a role player, a good one, but a role player nonetheless. He can't carry a team to championship and he never has (though he was much more involved in the Rocket championships than later ones).

As much as I love Rob (he is still my fav player), his game never really developed outside of just being a clutch role player. Now Cassell….he is the one that turned into a bonafide stud and was greatly missed.

    He sure can.

But he can also make a clutch dunk.

    And commit a clutch foul.

Clutchest player ever? I think maybe.

Hard to say, but I do know if he stayed....that means he probably doesn't end up in Phoenix or even the Lakers.

Which keeps them from winning 3 consecutive titles.......that would've been nice. ------ :D

I dont know about the Rockets, but if Horry never left them, Lakers and Spurs will have one less championship.

ZERO. We would have won zero more titles with or without Horry, as actually happened.

Didn't like the Barkley trade. Still don't.

rising Cassell + Horry > declining Barkley

If we don't make the Barkley trade and still sign Willis/Price/Johnson.

    Sam Cassell/Brent Price/Matt Maloney/Sedale Threat
    Clyde Drexler/Mario Elie/Sam Mack
    Robert Horry/Eddie Johnson
    Kevin Willis/Chucky Brown/Matt Bullard
    Hakeem Olajuwon/Mark Bryant/Charles Jones

I think that team, even considering their ages, would be legitimate contenders for at least the '97 and '98 seasons. Many "if's", like would Cassell have been a premier point? Would Price have still gotten injured pretty much the whole season? Maloney would never have had his break out rookie and sophomore seasons, then disappear forever. Sedale Threat wouldn't have been called in, they may not have even have signed Jonhson since Elie/Bullard/Mack could eat up bench minutes. Could Elie/Johnson/Mack/Bullard share bench minutes b/w the 2-3 and stay happy? Charles Jones would have been cut most likely but could Dream/Willis/Brown/Bullard/Bryant share 48 minutes b/w the 4-5 and stay happy?

If everything works out, this would have been the team to beat, I have no doubt that this squad could have taken the '97 and '98 titles against Chicago. But the question isn't about just Robert Horry, 4 players were included in a trade to get one player. I understood this trade at first but when we signed Willis the same day of the trade I wondered, "why didn't we just sign Willis?" That is an awesome 15 players to go to playoffs with.

Nope, zero more championships. Now, what if they had traded Dream to Toronto for Stoudamire and a pick (Vince Carter?)?

I have concluded that the majority of participants on this site never watched the Rockets championship runs and are well... idiots.

Tinman, your recent threads are a breath of fresh air and I commend your piercing vision of clarity in the midst of an overmedicated and dumbed down society.

Horry is the clutchest player of all time. No Gay Bull fan, not Mike.

There is no way you saw the Rockets play from 92-95 and concluded that we had a better chance to win with Chucklehead than with Horry and Cassell. If you did, then you need to go hit your prozac and pop an oxycontin, because you're not gonna get better.

What disheartens me as a Rocket fan who has debated with Laker fan or Spurs fan is how the lack or willingness of the newer fans to embrace or even acknowledge our past. When the Rocket fans are not proud of the Rockets championships, they are not Rockets fans PERIOD.

Laker fans will continue to show love to Magic, Kareem, Wilt, Jerry West and will get boiling angry if you mention the Celtics. I respect that.

I respect the Spurs fans who knows about the Iceman.

I've argued with Bulls fans in the east coast and sad to say.. they SHOW MORE RESPECT TO THE DREAM/ROCKETS than the 'so called' Rocket fans here.

I'll fight on though, like a Mad Maxwell!
