My gut (or perhaps my pessimism) right now says no.

I just think something clicked to our opponents somewhere around Christmas time, and that was... attack the basket relentlessly.

Couple that with the fact that there are 11 average to good teams in the West right now, and the odds are not looking promising.

Lets hope the Rockets don't get stuck in the 13 or 14 spot.

If the Rockets play the way them keep on playing as of late, they will be in the lottery. But now its too little to late to try to tank to try to get in the top 5. Like the title says, the Rockets don't want to be stuck in the 13 or 14 slot cause I looked at the draft history of those 2 slots from nbadraft.net from 1996 to now, and it doesn't look pretty at all. I know Morey has done a good job with low draft picks, but I don't think he can turn the curse around if we land on those two spots. This situation for me is the worst case scenario as a fan cause the Rockets are too good to get in the top 5 slot and have a bigger chance to draft Wall, and not good enough to make the playoffs.

But the higher we are, the easier it will be to move up. or trade for a star like Bosh.

I think we benefitted from other teams being surprised by us earlier and as they've seen us more they've figured out how to play us better.

That said I've got hope for the Rox and think we squeak in.

Its not likely we will make the playoffs the way we are playing since the new year.

If we do, we have to go on a winning streak and two teams ahead of us go on a loosing binge.

No, the Rockets won't make the playoff because they don't have a consistent inside game to score enough points, not big enough to stop the post-up game.

They need to make a decision on Yao over the summer. If he is healthy enough to play next season, then the Rockets will have a decent team next year, otherwise, they need find some help with size.

The Rockets have a chance with 5 to 10 game winning streak, or go .800 in any ten game stretch over the last two months.

With that being said, it will be very difficult, since Memphis, OKC, and even Hornets playing fairly well. The playoffs might be out of reach for this year.

We don't have the defense, this year or a real go-to guy down the stretch.

Chances are fading quickly. The top 6 teams are a lock, so it's the Rockets, Grizz, Hornets, Spurs, and Blazers battling for 2 spots. Fortunately everyone is playing poorly, not just the Rockets. These 5 teams play each other quite a bit over the final few months, and if the Rockets do well against these teams (didn't fare so well last night), they have a decent shot.

I think the Grizz are definitely going to wind up below us, and I think ultimately the Hornets will as well, especially if Chris Paul misses extended time.

So can we catch the Spurs or Blazers? I'm skeptical about the Blazers, but I think we can catch the Spurs. When a team gets old is such a tricky moment to predict, but it has passed this season. One moment you're young, picking up chicks, then the hairline recedes, you get a fly car, and can still get some materialistic girls. Suddenly, you're getting your daily Metamusil, watching Wheel of Fortune and Judge Judy, giving your grandkids Wurther's candy, and reminiscing about the old days. The Spurs got old this year. Their shiny new acquisitions haven't helped, and they look like a team in decline. I remember when this happened to the Rockets in 1998. Fresh off at rip to the WCF, their decline was brutal to watch. These aren't your father's Spurs any more, and this is the team likely to fall out of the Playoff race.

To me, the race comes down to the Rockets against these 4 teams. If they can sweep their 6 games against them (home against the Blazers and Hornets, home and away against the Spurs and Grizz) or go 5-1, they can take tie breaks and give themselves a decent shot at a ticket to the dance.

I've been predicting Playoffs since July, and I'm not about to stop now. I'm nervous, but I believe!

    That's the spirit!!

OK, realistically, most likely NOT. It will still take us a few games to adjust Martin into rotation, then a few more transition games where the team will be up and down, and then it's the end of the season.

I predict that the Rockets will choose in the top ten spots of the lottery, and they won't have to make a deal to move up. "And the moment we have all been waiting for.......With the (?) pick in the 2010 NBA Lottery,The Houston Rockets pick John Wall! (Thunderous Applause) but send him to the New York Knicks for Dwayne Langi Battier!" Sura faints.

The way the team has been playing lately it's going to be very tough for us to make the playoffs unless Martin somehow elevates his game to the level that he was playing a couple of years ago.

With the trade I think that we might have already started planning for next year. We have lots of assets at this point to make a great push in a sign and trade deal in the summer. And here's to the hope that Yao does come back healthy next year.

i'd rather take the long shot at the lotto than make the playoffs and i don't think we will make the playoffs.

Wow, you are expecting a collapse! I would not be surprised if it happen. Without Lowry to serve as clutch, we are pretty disfunctional as a team.

We had such a terrific start with a most difficult early schedule, just to falter towards the end.

This season is fastly winding down, so if we are not going to make the playoffs, let's hope for a higher pick!

We're on pace to the win total that I thought we would be at before this season. I only wish we would still be fun to watch like we were in the start of the season. We've lost that explosiveness and confidence.

I'm hoping for a good offseason and next season. We will be good.

it is mission impossible now,,we will have to win at least 20 out of the remaining 27games to be able to make the playoff,,which is not gonna happen .
