Lowry's injure makes it less likely, then you have a trade which results in the loss of Landry. Landry, Lowry and Buds played better than those starters in some games, now you have new guys without Lowry for a while, a chance is very low for the playoff, which could be a good thing for a long term.

    That's the best answer.

The loss of Landry and Lowry made us average at best. The influx of new players made us a team in transition. We are not even as good as the team without Yao and Tmac in the playoffs last year. Because Landry and Artest and even Lowry made us better.

So while I said tank what I really mean is play for next year. Test out the young guys. See how Jeffries worksout as a sub. Experiment with rotations. And give Martin, Budinger Hill and Armstrong playing time. If we do all that and we win that's great because I know we will be even better next year.

Like everyone else on this board, I was ecstatic with our early season success. I think we overachieved. But NBA season is a marathon and adrenaline will only carry you so far.

At this point, I am hoping that we can still get into the playoff but I must say it is unlikely.

no way! even if the rockets made the playoffs it would be more embarassing than the way they are playing right now.still no inside presence and without out that you should not even think PLAYOFFS? when will the rockets finally address the freakin' pf position. the spot has never been filled by anyone worth a darn untill landry came along and now he's gone. if yao comes back that doesn't mean they have a presence down low, some players want thier poster with him getting dunked on.

If we played the way we played early in the season, we'd have a good chance. Based on our most recent games, I'd say it is unlikely that we'd make the playoffs (maybe a 1 in 4 chance).

No, OKC is looking strong, Portland is better than us. Phoenix didn't trade Amare. We get owned by the Hornets.

We don't have much going for us.

I thought we would before the season started, but the West has been even tougher then expected, and now the Rockets seem to be struggling, especially on the defensive side of the ball. The pressure is really on AB and Martin to play well every game, because without their offense this team just can't keep up.

you don't tank, ever. if i was a season ticket holder and my team tanked i would be outraged, fans don't pay their salaries to see them lose, even if it makes us better by draft, you don't tank.

This type of talk becomes moot when some giant big man from somewhere in the eastern hemisphere is demanding double teams every single time he catches the ball.

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure Spencer Hawes is not that man.

Rockets will finish 44-38 and finish 9th or 10th in the West...I will say they will stay close because the Spurs are on the last leg, Portland looks like the injuries are going to hold them down and New Orleans isn't anything special.

I think the Rockets will miss the playoffs.

They haven't been playing well since 2010 began...before the trade, after the trade, with Landry/Lowry, without Landry/Lowry...doesn't matter, results are the same.

I honestly don't think we will either.

Lottery here we come! Houston can get as a high as the 11th pick (Bucks need to win a few games or Rockets need to lose a few more).

Man, I was on that bus too. You gotta play to win. But given what we have to work with, we're not going to win many games anyway...especially minus our two spark plugs, Mr. Landry and Lowry.

Plus, at the same time, at some point you have to develop new players and/or work them into the system. We certainly didn't trade for JJ or Hilton Armstrong to have them sit the bench. Play them. We've needed a spark for awhile, maybe this is it. This is NOT tanking, ala the Nets, per say.

Everyone has to admit that if we were really serious about winning, McGrady would have been playing 30 plus minutes since the beginning of December. McGrady haters unite, but his teams after his first developmental years in Toronto and every year he has been healthy, have at least made the playoffs.

I dont think they will but if we somehow become a darkhorse for Playoffs wouldn't mind it. It will only help the Rocket's stock for sign and trades.

We're set up for a late run, and several teams are set up for a late collapse; I think we'll make it in by a hair.
