2-1 in favor of the lottery? Wow...where are the real fans at because they certainly aren't on Clutchfans. I'm disappointed with the results so far too but we really haven't seen enough yet. Especially when you factor in Brooks and Yao sitting out.

It will be each time more difficult, if trades won't happen ASAP, what good are the assets for if they are not used?

Players with limited minute lose value, specially when the team lose....NY could get some interesting player and would make the NY picks worthless (if this year they got something, the 2011 swap would lose value, if they get a superstar next offseason, the 2012 plummets value, such picks should be traded NOW)...

So far our only wins have come from the second worst team in the west and crap teams in the east.

If we where a eastern conference team I would still have hope, 40-45 games in the east is almost a lock to get you in to playoffs over there.

With all the issues we have right now if we right the ship and get everything back on track at best we are 45 to 47 win team. As we all know in the west these days a win total in the 40s keeps you out of the playoffs.

So with all that said I don't think we make it. How bad we tank I think is directly related to how bad the knicks are doing at the all-star break.

If they are above 500. we need to break out the Panzer Tanks.

Let me make sure I understand this.

If the pool of voters were all "real" fans, then the poll would show 100% the Rockets were going to make they playoffs?

And "real" fans would go down to the TC for 42 games and spend their hard-earned cash because they absolutely knew the Rockets would make the play-offs. Right?

And "real" fans would never make posts or threads about trades and/or perceived weaknesses in the current roster. Right?

Think it might be time to take off the red-tinted glasses. Being a "fan" doesn't commit someone a pure lack of reason.

I am very much a realist. I just want to stay positive in hopes that the Rockets will just snap out of it and play the way we know they are capable of. I just hate the vibe around these boards. All doom and gloom and we haven't even made it out of the first month of the season. A trade is coming obviously to fix a few of the teams needs but Morey isn't as dumb as a lot(well most) people on this board that want to blow up the team and start over.

They have a slim chance of making it.

Sure they "CAN" make them, but they need a lot of things to happen to actually make them.

Anyone that thinks the Rockets will make the playoffs, needs to be piss tested. Go ahead and lose games like when they got Ralph Sampson, and Akeem.

Of course they can - the NBA's the easiest league to sneak into a bottom seed with a wild hot streak after the ASG.

I'll temper that with, the odds of them having one of those streaks without a MAJOR shakeup trade are awfully low.

Morey's been swinging for that major trade for several months and coming up empty. Not really his fault, players are running the league more than GMs these days. It's upsetting, but we may be better off tearing it down and rebuilding from scratch.

The real question is ....SHOULD THEY?

I mean I would rather not be an 8th seed, I would rather they be higher in the lottery.

This year however is unique, with the Knicks, we can play great and still get a high pick.

The problem has been with the "playing great" part.

Like the majority posts, it seems, I would go bananas to see them turn it around and make the playoffs. But no one in their right mind would predict it--I mean predict like putting money on it (without odds). I'm very impressed with several of the western conference teams who are certainly stronger at this stage of the season. Really solid defense for any stretch at all is non-existent. There's little continuity, identity, or chemistry.

Hopefully, our injured will return more determined than ever to prove me wrong. Go Rockets!

that would mean the Knicks would be have to be out of the playoffs. With the way they've been playing recently, unless injuries occur they're gonna be up in the top 8 over there

A top 3 pick is more meaningful.
