How well do WE know Morey?

Nobody predicted Brooks or really any of our draft picks.
    Nobody predicted the Gasol 'trade'.
Nobody knew what we had in Lowery at the time of the trade.
And I know nobody saw Lin getting cut!!!

The guy keeps his card close to his vest. It is fun to guess, but none of us know.

Here's another one. We were told Patterson was ranked 5th in the draft by the Rockets. There always seems to be hints that he's untouchable.

Yet, if they had traded for Gasol, signed Nene, and re-signed Hayes. What were they going to do with him then?

We'll deal it away... Seems to me DM greatly prefers proven commodities to high draft pick gambles (ie Battier vs Gay pick)... My guess is he'll package it with some expiring contracts (or maybe even Scola, Dragic, or CLee) and pull a good midrange player with upside.... Batum, Granger, etc....
DM is an investment vs return guy... he knows the value of a pick vs the uncertainty of the draft...

I would consider sending it back to NY for a future unprotected pick, but I'm leaning towards keeping it.

It depends ENTIRELY on how the Knicks do between now and then because if they surge it will only hold moderate value but if they falter it could become much more valuable. So you're really asking about the short-term performance of the Knicks in my opinion.

He should go ahead and do it. The pick will be useless now that Jeremy Lin has become their starter. I suspect the Knicks will start to win a few games now. Making their pick near the middle of the draft or even lower.

I agree with the OP here. Even though the Knicks are a hot mess this year, its hard to imagine them not making the playoffs and the pick turning into the 15th to the 20th.

If the Rockets can trade the pick and get something with value higher than the 15th pick in draft, whether it be young talent, or an all-star quality player while moving Scola, then the pick is on the table in a deal.

However, if there isnt a deal out there (other than potentially Gasol, I dont see much on the Market coming up in March)that isnt blatently obvious to make then I say hold onto the pick and hope that Jeremy Lin doesn't blow it for the Rockets and screw us out of the lottery pick.

So yes, the Pick should be on the market, given the attention it is sure to be getting, but I doubt there is anything out there of value to get for it.
