I think Morey is pretty good, but I think his lack of interpersonal skills and way of dealing with contracts and agents are a negative. I do think they can identify talent most of the time, but they fail on finding difference making players.....and generally go for the "SAFE BET" over the high upside risks etc. DD
Is this the most depressed the bbs has ever been? Some of y'all are literally going insane with cr@p! Anyways I haven't seen this even when dream was traded. I've lurked here and posted with another name sine OG 99 days. Man chill! And NO morey should not be fired. The org knows (like when CD stepped aside) how to operate the GM position.
C'mon now...that's faulty reasoning when we all know they didn't trade them because they wanted to. Those guys asked out and Both utah and denver were hesitant to trade them. No Gmin their right mind trades superstars because they think it's better than keeping them.
Bad analogy and bad post. If Yao and Tracy had told Morey that they would both suffer career ending injuries and they should be traded then while still healthy your analogy would make sense, unfortunately it didn't happen that way. If Deron and Melo had similar situations to Yao/Tracy and they both suffered debilitating injuries, neither Denver nor Utah would of been able to land the treasure trove of picks and players they got. Both would now be in much worse positions than us. Denver and Utah have no high players who will be superstars, nor will thier current cores ever be contenders. At some point, blame has to come down to the players for these last five games. Lowry has been awful. Lee has been awful. Scola has been awful. Dalembert has been awful. Parsons has been awful. Trying to put all the blame on one individual is idiotic.
So . . .are you saying .. .you can GUARANTEE Championships if we got a star? You are basically asking these stars to trust Morey [someone they don't know . ..] ABSOLUTELY in that with them he will bring in a Championship Rocket River
You fire Morey to replace him with who? Morey would be snatched up by another team before Les hangs up the phone.

No. But, he has only next season left to produce results or he's lost me. Les Alexander has already lost me.
On and on it seems to go that you don't know what you have until it's gone. This should be a public poll. I voted No. Hell no. David Stern. NUFF SAID.
Even though this team has seen its share of injury problems (plus the whole Sterning thing), if we miss the playoffs, this will qualify as the first and only season where the team Morey has fielded can legitimately be labeled as a failure. 2008 was a success, 2009 and 2010 were total washouts because of injury, and 2011 has been a failure. I'm not going to let one bad season shake my confidence that much. If he falls flat on his face next year, 2013 will be his judgment day.
This! And by "results" i'm thinking, a clear direction for making the team better, and quite a bit of changes to the roster. As far as I'm concerned, taking a step backwards could be a major step forward for the future of the organization.
The point being made is that other GMs traded their stars in their prime to rebuild quickly and effectively. Saying morey could have traded them during their last year or two isn't the same comparison, since both were past their prime years. They would have been traded in 2005 for it to be a similar comparison to Melo and Deron's situation. Do you think there was a valid reason to trade them in 2005, after just one season together?
Not necessarily. At the end of the day - after all of the excuses for TMac/Yao/Les/(fill in the blank) - when all is said and done, the bottom line is results. After 5 years, a GM has to produce something other than ifs, buts or coulda/shoulda beens or else he should be replaced. That's the box Morey finds himself stuck in right now - he has to produce something better than what he's done so far. I wish him luck...
It just goes back to what others have said about putting blame on someone and Les won't put it on himself. Someone has to take the fall and it'll likely be Morey, but should he be fired? The answer has to be no. Will he? Probably. And i mentioned earlier that Morey had Rubio and cousins on his radar...clutch mentioned Jonas V on the radio earlier, whom i forgot about...but those are the three players Morey's gone after in the last 3 drafts. Rubio/Cousins/Valanciunas. It's time to lose. That should be our slogan next season.
That is the only "High reward" draft pick he has taken, he has consistently taken the safe pick and this is where you land when you do that. IMO - Morey's career as a GM of the Rockets will be defined by his hiring of McHale and D-Mo.... Make or break. DD
Daryl Morey is doing the best job he possible can with the situation he is put in. In no way should the man be fired. People have to realize how different our team would be in David Stern did not veto a perfectly fair trade. The impact of that decision will set the Rockets back a few years. Daryl acquired multiple assets in hopes to package them for a Star level player. Dragic, Scola, Martin should all no longer be with the Rockets. Can you blame Morey if we lose Dragic this summer in free agency? When I look back on all the moves Morey has made in the past the only bad decision he ever made was to trade a first round pick for Terence Williams. But how bad of a decision was this? The rockets always get mediocre level picks because we not one of the 10 worst teams, but we are also not one of the 10 best teams. If you go through and breakdown all his moves the Rockets usually come out as winners. Just because we did not make the playoffs this year should not be how he is judged. Can you blame the GM if no superstar wants to play in Houston? What move do you think he could have made differently to change the outcome of this season? Even if the Rockets make the playoffs is that a good thing for us? Who honestly believes the Rockets right now has a legit shot to win a Championship? Have we settled for such medicoricy that we just want the Rockets to make the playoffs? It should always be championship or bust and right now we don't have the talent to do that. But the Rockets do not believe in tanking, which I agree with, but how do you suppose we get better?
