Does anything posted on this board matter what we think? Do you think if we dogged Chuck Hayes and he was reading, he'd break down in tears and say " Yeah, maybe I shouldn't take those dumb teardroppers every now and then ". Of course not. So yeah, Kobe's gay and he wants Shaq.
Do any of you guys have a friend who was raped? In all likelihood, most of you do. In most likelihood, you don't know that because very few rape victims will ever report the fact to anyone but close friends. Very few girls will try and press charges and go through an entire trial, because there is a deep shame associated with being raped (which is the whole point of rape, not to enjoy sex but to degrade and humiliate), and many people will blame the girl for what happened, despite her innocence. Try and imagine what that feels like- to be raped, degraded, humiliated, to feel terribly ashamed of it even though you did nothing wrong and are a victim, and then go to trial and be accused of lying, golddigging, getting revenge, whatever- and all you want is justice for what happened. Recently in Saudi Arabia a woman was given 90 lashes for being alone with a man- after being gang raped by a group of men. Many of us find this barbaric, but even in our own culture there is a much more subversive but similar element that blames the woman for being raped. It's still a common defense in courtrooms to drag out a girl's past sexual history- essentially calling her a slut in the courtroom, and somehow suggesting that it can't be rape if the girl is a 'slut'. And it works. It's because of this, that the cards are already stacked against the girl, that if she goes to court at all, and sticks with her story, I lean towards believing her story. Not to mention the incredible scrutiny, malice, and judgement she would face for pressing charges against a famous, rich athlete. Although I'm not convinced he's guilty, I lean in that direction. As for the girl in question, her life became a living hell after she pressed charges against Kobe. She was ostracized, she received death threats, she moved constantly. I suppose there is some possibility that she was looking for money, but there is no way the $$ she got compensated her completely wrecked life- and that is aside from the fact she may have been raped.
You mean RAFER, don't you? Anyway: I hate ANYONE who gives men overall a bad name by cheating on his spouse. I think that if he can cheat on his wife, he's given little credibility about NOT raping the girl. I was with you until you said "her." I don't understand the argument people have about not giving the girl ANY credibility. I know I might piss off some of you here (which I know will include moes and kingcheetah), but what are "promiscuous girls" supposed to do when they're really raped? Not tell anyone because they won't have any credibility? I think he's guilty of trying to do something to the girl that she did NOT want. She couldn't have done neck marks, etc., to herself. He wanted something she didn't want to give. I'd be afraid to take Kobe's peepee into my rear as well (heck, I'd be afraid of anything into my rear). He shouts at refs but the refs don't say sh*t 'cuz he's KOBE . I get sick and tired of that sh*t. STFU, Kobe, if the refs didn't want to call a foul on your defender. PLUS He's GUILTY. AND STOP SLAPPING PEOPLE ON THE FACE AFTER YOU SHOOT, you mo fo.
Disagree with this as overblown. MOST of us know someone who's been raped? Really? Show of hands to people reading this, how many know of someone you might have a hunched have been actually raped? I don't know of any, though that's sad that there are people who do get raped. There's a bigger chance everyone knows someone with a drug problem than they do with someone being raped. Secondly, I believe our society now tends to favor a woman being raped instead of against them. I believe golddiggers are a more serious problem, not only to these millionaires, but even to ordinary people like us. You make something like $50k a year and there's golddiggers after you. In the case of Kobe, I'm very hard pressed to believe he'd have to resort to raping a girl either through desperation or for fun. Review the case, look how she flirted with him... I don't completely buy into the fact that she wanted money, but maybe it was a case of the sex being a little too rough. But she did initiate it and willingly do it. Lastly, if you can remember, when this thing happened, there seemed to be a lot more people wishing for Kobe's downfall than for him to be innocent ( even though most of us did believe he was innocent ). Kobe was intensely disliked at that time outside of LA after winning multiple championships and getting booed at the Philly all-star game.
Right off the top of my head I personally know four women who have been raped. No one was charged or convicted in any of these assaults.
I've had four serious relationships in my life. Two of my exes had been raped. In both cases, when they even went to someone they thought was a friend to discuss it, it was blown off. One of them was raped by a half-uncle and due to her experience with the first rape, didn't bother to tell anyone until she told me.
i know a few. if you think mercenary females (yah, sure they exist) are a bigger problem your view of the world is skewered. aren't enough really big paydays, lots more women are targets for merely being women ...
I'll put some faith in the justice system this time and give him the benefit of the doubt that he didn't commit rape. He is guilty of being a douche though.
