We don't need to upgrade PG position. We are fine with Harden. Our PF's, at some up-coming games, will be exposed. Jones made huge progress but in no way will be experienced enough to guard top tier PF's. That's reality! On a side note, Bev is not the same player he was last year. When Bev came on the court, his energy level was off the chart; everyone fed off of him. He chased for blocks, passed well, hassled and hustled. Heck, he doesn't even dunk like he used to. When he stole the ball from Lawson, he just laid it up. No swag whatsoever this year. Bev is neutered as a starter because he can't play his aggressive game AND not picking up early fouls.
Some weeks ago, I recommended trading Dwight and Harden for Anthony Davis. None of Dwight and Harden is the complete player. Dwight can't post, can't shoot FTs while Harden has no defense. Then I also said Rox needed a defensive wing, a defensive SF to complement Harden because of the reality of Harden on this team. PF is of secondary concern. I believe I have been proven right for the past couple of weeks. I bet Morey's next move is a defensive SF or he waits for Brewer. But can Brewer shoot the corner 3 as Bruce Bowen? With Harden on board, the best PG is a Derek Fisher type.
Kenny Smith played for Rox as a PG, he was never a defensive specialist. Actually he was pretty weak in that area. This does not prevent Rox from winning a championship. So apparently, Kenny Smith believes Lin is fine as a starter or Bev whatsoever. The problem, of course, is Harden who does not play much defense so Harden needs help. I would believe that a defensive SF who shoots the corner 3 is a better fit because SF can defend the whole wing, PG, SG, SF while a defensive PG can only defend the PG position. My bet is that Lin will be back as a starting PG if Rox gets a defensive SF. That is of course contingent upon that Lin is not traded for a defensive SF.
Good response guys. Maybe i am overreacting to the play of T.Jones. I'll admit that. Guess time will tell.

Hardens lack of defense is not a problem. How many opposing guards have outscored him this season? He's surrounded by decent defenders. This is not as big a problem as many of you are making it out to be.
TJones is definitely making a case for himself at the 4, especially if he keeps hitting his jumpers. Would still take an all star caliber 1/3/4, but there's only so many of those to go around that would be a workable trade. There's really no all star caliber PG's available right now, and no. 9-15 are pretty close to a wash. There might be some good 3/4's, but it would probably depend heavily on the deal/player.
Actually he wasn't. If you look at our first few games Harden was playing 2 way ball, then I believe he got injured with the bruised foot and he stopped any effort on D. I think this is Mchale's fault for still playing Harden 40+ mins despite his injury. Now with Harden being taken out to rest his foot I think he might come back ready to defend again. I disagree about you saying we don't need a defensive guy, we need someone who can score in bunches and still be a good defender. Right now we have Lin as the pg backup, Casspi as the SF backup but we have no one who can spell Harden when he sits. Mchale's experimenting with Lin at the SG spot and that's fine, but we need a lockdown guy who can defend the 2 and 3 spots and still score decently. Brewer was supposed to be that guy but he's injured and when he did play he wasn't that good.
I've been rooting for Jones to take the PF job for a while because I felt he was the best all around option at the 4 on the team both last year and this year. People forget before he decided to stay an extra year at Kentucky and take a back seat to Anthony Davis, he was projected as one of the top lottery picks in the draft the previous year he was drafted.
He was ranked #1 for awhile in a few mock drafts early in the year in the same year that he was drafted before Davis & MKG emerged. Had those two guys been on another team he'd probably be a top 5 pick at least.
the wing stopper has to be Parsons, there is nobody else, if he can't, trade him. Even if we somehow get the right Brewer, who's gonna start? Pretty boy doesn't realize his future 10 mil per yr contract depends his D, not his ball handling.
I want an elite "glue guy" defensive wing who can hit threes. Top targets: Tier 1: Young stud borderline all star glue men Probably can't trade Asik for these guys straight-up, going to have to sweeten the deal Kawhi Leonard, Luol Deng, Arron Afflalo, Evan Turner, Nic Batum, Trevor Ariza (JUST KIDDING) Tier 2: Solid all-around guys who will never be all stars: Probably a fair trade for Asik give or take some minor sweeteners Tier 2: Courtney Lee, Jeff Green, Iman Shumpert, Wilson Chandler, Gordon Hayward Tier 3: Old men who can still play You better be paying us to take these guys back with draft picks or a backup C or something Tier 3: Shawn Marion, Tony Allen, Thabo Sefolosha, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen
^ Thabo is on a contract year and he isn't that old, Shawn Marion is valued highly by the Mavs and is still an incredible defender, Ray Allen is not a defensive wing, etc. The only realistic people on that list are Luol, Afflalo, Ariza, Lee, Green, Shumpert and Turner. Of those, I'd personally love 1. Afflalo 2. Turner 3. Luol Afflalo is only ahead because Turner and Luol are in their contract year
I keep saying it because it just makes too much sense. Make a trade for Deng. With Rose out the Bulls are not getting past the Heat or Pacers and they have been trying to trade him for years. It might not even take much to get him if Chicago goes into full tank mode, which they should.
I didn't say they were all realistic trade possibilities, but you might as well put everybody up on the board before you pare down.
I totally agree. I'd love either of the 2nd tier guys in a 6th man role or even push Parsons to our primary 6th man if necessary.
I don't believe we need to make any moves. I think it is obvious we will have to move Asik at some point before the deadline. So a backup 5 is needed when that happens. This team just needs more time together to work on chemistry. We will get better with time and without adding anyone.
