When I took paxlovid, the taste would last about 10 hours. So I got some temporary relief between doses. It was a very metallic taste.
A friend of mine tested positive for COVID on Wednesday. We had been hanging out over the weekend but by Wednesday she was running a102 degree fever. I’ve been feeling fine and am asymptomatic.
After starting to take Paxlovid, I tested negative on day 3 (in the morning and evening), stopped isolating and played tennis today (day 4). Will still finish taking the rest of the pills, to avoid a rebound.
Anyone ever hear of a friend or relative developing diabetes 2 after a COVID case? Might be happening to a friend of mine. Weird symptoms and they've eliminated just about everything else but the dreaded... diabeetus. Dude is not overweight but has lost weight, his nicks and cuts won't heal, and now he's had a couple of infections in a row needing antibiotics.
Of course. The guy was in no way pre-diabetic, or at least he didn't think so. Who knows. I just hope he doesn't have leukemia or some ****! Anyway, glad you are doing better so fast.
I've had a patient who developed diabetes 2 after COVID. A year later and he's normal. Doctors said it affected his pancreas's ability to produce insulin. Might be temporary.
Thanks for sharing that. I've never heard of temporary diabeetus (other than some women after birth, IIRC). Fascinating.
I've heard of it before through coworkers, but this was my first live one. It is strange. Like your friend, they appear completely normal. He was only diagnosed because he felt ill and was hospitalized, otherwise it was unexpected.
It’s my turn. Woke up with bad myalgias and sore throat. The antigen test turned very positive. Sucks too because I had a day of meetings I was looking forward to (seriously). Now I am stuck at home with my whole family.
It seems like this virus has been with us forever but we’ve only know an about it for 4 years. It’s also a fast mutating virus.
So I played tennis as soon as my tests were negative (even while I was still taking Paxlovid). Today, had a meeting in NYC, felt really light-headed, almost like fainting. Hopefully, it's not myocarditis lol. I might have to take it easy on drinking alcohol this week.
Feeling quite a bit better since Monday, but I am still testing positive on the stupid antigen test. Isolating is well… isolating.
Maybe time to remember where you stored your Masks and get current on your shots. Italian hospitals collapse: Over 1,100 patients waiting to be admitted in Rome The rise in hospital admissions, which has put pressure on the Italian health system, is due to an increase in "respiratory diseases, especially among the elderly". "Covid has slightly decreased in the last week, flu is spreading, but other viruses have also caused 'overcrowding' in hospitals and a very strong pressure on emergency services," De Laco explained on Tuesday, according to local media. In fact, in the week before Christmas, from 18 to 24 December, "the influenza epidemic curve showed an incidence value never reached in previous seasons", according to the latest epidemiological bulletin from the Higher Institute of Health. And the situation is far from stabilising, according to the Italian agency itself. "Several regions have activated plans to combat overcrowding in hospitals and health companies in order to find additional beds, but since hospital beds are chronically scarce, in practice there is nothing else to do but take beds away from other specialties, such as surgery. Of course, this does not solve the problem," De Laco said. As the situation worsens, doctors are becoming exhausted and there are a number of alarming articles in the Italian press: "Hospitals on the brink" was one headline in La Repubblica.
If you're coughing up a lung, it should be mandatory to wear a mask. Or just stay home, or if that's not possible, just don't be a dick and wear a mask.
