If you see or hear something is wrong, do you speak on it. If you see a kids stealing snicker bars in the store. . . do you approach them . . . do you approach the parents . . . do you alert the manager or store security? when you hear someone saying something foul and wrong do you call them on it? Do you remain silent? Do you you chalk it up to . . . not being your business? I guess . . .I wonder if . . while most folx don't agree with the 'Don't Snitch' Ideal . . . how many people kind of practice it by default. Rocket River
There is constant tension between the person I'd like to be and the person I am. On a good day I will confront. On a bad day, I will ignore it and spend the rest of the week kicking myself for not doing something.
I run across this myself. I worry that I am not standing by my convictions. That I am . . .wimping out. Rocket River
For the most part I don't snitch, but its seems people around me wouldn't give it a second thought of snitching on me.
Within the WORKPLACE absolutely no employee to manager snitching. At least in theory. As in keeping the manager involved as little as possible. I try to have a culture of everyone settling their affairs within from person to person. But you ALWAYS have to have the one brown-noser to get management involved for small stuff. Managers want their workers to be PRO-ctive. So when someone does not do something right, I let them know to correct it before it can be seen. Everyone else though, "Manager, I DON'T this looks right here ... " Within the community, I might snitch if I'm not too lazy and lethargic and its ANONYMOUS.
If they're being loud or rude or a nuisance in some other way, and they don't appear to be physically threatening, then yeah, I'd probably tell on them. Or if they're also large and black, and I don't want to be lumped in with them, then maybe.
It depends, but more often yes than no. One time I saw a guy at the library looked at child p*rn, I got the librarian to call the cops. When I see people cut in line, even if it's in front of me, I probably won't react...
Having a loud Italian mother, I never saw anyone cut in front of us in line without getting epically b****ed out
If influences me negatively, then I will confront them. If it hurts someone else... it depends. Both on how I view the victim and how minor (or major) the offense is.
I was staying at the Crown Plaza around Atlanta a few days before Christmas. I was using the internet in the business center (which is in an open area next to the lobby) around 3:00am mapping my travels for the next day. A few seats down from me, the maintenance guy (in his 50s or 60s) was using his laptop where there's an open Ethernet cord for free internet use. As I got up to leave I noticed he was looking at nude pictures of children. He closed that window, but I'm sure of what I saw. It wasn't artsy or his own kid in a bathtub; it was p*rn. I snitched to hotel security. Come to think of it, I'm going to contact the hotel again and maybe call the FBI or something. I generally don't give a damn about what people do in their own homes, but Child p*rnography is not a victimless situation. All you non-snitches are cowards.
