Remember the year after the Rockets won the playoffs, Sam Cassell and John Lucas went to this shiny brand new restaurant in Chinatown called Imperial Palace to do some signings, and I got there after it was all over and they were eating dinner, but because I was such a cute 9yr old Cassell was like "aww shoot, just let him in" and they opened the red stanchion and let me into the restricted area just so Sam could sign my ball. I was such a damn cute kid my head explodes just trying to envision it. And then John Lucas had to ruin it all by planting his huge signature on the ball by Sam's. That dude is everywhere in town; his sig is probably worth like -5 bucks because after he's done signing it you kinda feel guilty playing with the ball. But seriously he hasn't been a celebrity in like 30 years. To make a long story short, Imperial Palace closed a couple years later because there was some sort of murder in the bathroom during a wedding party. Ah those were the days. Now the cops have a permanent station next door. The End.

I don't think "vehemently" was an appropriate word to describe his post. You claim that we should all be okay with snide jokes and jabs. Okay, I can dig that. Then your last paragraph ends it all by implying it's bad to be a McGrady fan. One "betrays" themselves by being found to like McGrady. Why all of the social posturing? Can't people just discuss a player and not be labeled a lesser fan? If you think TMac jokes are made "from time to time", you are surely joking. Also, if you don't recognize Tinman for what he is, you are simply misinformed or don't visit the boards enough. Let me be the first to welcome you to the world we live in.

My first memory of the team came as a Karl Malone bear hug and a John Stockton 3 that eliminated the Rockets from the playoffs. The next few years, I began to follow the team more closely as I familiarized myself with names such as Michael Dickerson, Brent Price, Othella Harrington, and Kenny Thomas. It wasn't an easy time to become a Rockets fan.
A couple of must have videos when remembering the time... the Glory Days. The second run will always be my favorite... getting Clyde and winning on the road in the playoffs... the kiss of death... Choke City to Clutch City. I'll never forget it. Clutch City DVD Double Clutch VHS
Although i am just as young as the original poster is, i had a fair share of joy for being a rox fan. few years ago, when we went 22 in a row, i was in LA high school. I think about win #17, i wore red shirt every single day until we played the Lakers. Anyone remember that game? it was just epic. the best moment of my life as a rox fan. I walked into the classroom full of Lakers Fans, wearing red shirt, yelling "22 in a row baby What' sup?!!" from that moment on, i knew one thing i must to as a Rox fan. I applied to Rice University solely for the location. I think i mentioned being a Rox fan somewhere in the application and i think that kind of killed my application considering i got into much more challenging colleges. Anyhow, the history is in the making and we will be the next generation of Rox fans!! Live on!
