Some of the teams we played might have been considered easy but our schedule indeed has been brutal. Hence, a brutal schedule make you lose against bad teams.

No, he's right. It's 12. The month links on Rockets.com were screwy. The months disappear after you click on one so I ended up missing a month.

I guess I underestimated how bad we've had it. Good call, jsmee.

Yup. 3 more b2bs and 3 more road games than the next closest among the top 9 in the West. That's actually very significant. I take back what I said earlier. It doesn't matter how easy your opponents are if you have that kind of scheduling. Throw in the injuries and it's pretty amazing that we're 24-16 and in the 6th place, only 3 games out of 2nd.

Actually, excluding Denver we have four more b2bs which is right at the average.

You were right again, jsmee. I missed the SAS-DEN b2b. We've really had it tough. 13 b2bs, 4 more than the next team among the top 9.

Edit: Yea, Denver had 10 so 3 more than the next. Still a very tough schedule indeed.

This thread ultimately has made me a bit more optimistic. 5 stars!

Regardless of where Hollinger's SOS formula has us ranked, if you factor in b2bs and number of road games, I'd say the Rockets have easily had one of the 10 most difficult schedules. Factor in that we've had more injuries to key players than any other contending team and we've easily had one of the 5 toughest schedules, maybe top 2 or 3.

Wow a thread where people have a discussion, actually back up the arguments with evidence. And in the end actually admit that the other was right  You do not see that often anymore.

Nice thread Brooksball, jsmee2000 and madmax

I went ahead and added Orlando and Cleveland to the list as well. Hey MadMax and Brooksball is there anyone else you would like to see in this list?

Up to you, man. It's informative as is but the more data you put in, the better you can compare the Rockets to the rest of the league.

So far, out of the 12 upper echelon teams you gathered stats for, no team has had as many b2bs as the Rockets, no team has had more 4-game weeks, no team has had more "4 games in 5 days" periods, no team has had fewer 3-day or 4-day rest periods and no team has played more road games.

We've simply had the toughest schedule by far of all "good" teams based on your data.

Wow, that's cool. I saw you just updated it with the Hawks and can see you doing the Pistons. I didn't know a viewer could actually watch the sheet being updated.

People saying our schedule is hard has more to do with road/home splits. We've played more games than most everybody and have played the second most road games behind only golden state I believe. We have a very favorable road/home split the rest of the year. I'm sure our actual SOS is around average.

And I'm pretty sure we have played more b2b's than anyone else. But that's not the issue. The issue is that we're INJURED and we're playing that many b2b's.
