You are talking about tanking. I am talking about rebuilding. There is a difference. If you don't have talent you can't make trades in order to sustain the rebuilding process. If you don't have talent you can't entice free agents to come play for your team. It takes talent to rebuild, not tanking in order to hope you win the lottery and then hope again the player(s) you select are NBA caliber.
I do. In never understood why we traded him away. He has never had ball handling skills and cant shoot off the dribble, nor create his own shot. HE WAS ASKED TO DO ALL OF THOSE THING LAST YEAR. This year with Brooks and Martin dominating the ball and Yao down low, he would be the perfect compliment to the team. Now we have C Lee (who i like) who occasionally throws down a vicious ally oop but thats about it. Plus, what is the West full of? Legit guards that are 6'6 or above. Ariza could guard alot of them.
Yup, Ariza must be shooting Hornets out of the league right now. CP3 must be mad at his team for this trade. On the other hand, we have been improved a lot without Ariza's wild shooting. Morey is genius.
Guess what, he would be the 5th option on this team too. He would cover the terrible play of Brooks on the defensive end as well. He was in fact a perfect fit for this team. Everyone knows this trade wasn't about talent it was just about cap space, it was still a really bad move though.
Somehow, Rockets had better defense with Brooks. Ariza is helpful to team defense. Team defense will cover the short coming of Brooks' defense.
http://espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=2426 .378 shooting %, .333 3 pt shooting. 10,7 pt average. And this is with the best disher in the business. Nope.. Im not impressed.
Offense is only one end of the game. I am impressed by Hornets' record and their top 4 defense efficiency.
Also we all were under the assumption that Ariza was Battier replacement......but i guess we were all wrong. Maybe Morey is really that smart to be able to see the benefit of trading him now to prepare us for the future (life without a healthy Yao...ever).....IT IS WRITTEN.
True. But I cant see how a player that is a offensive liability wouldnt just be another Jeffries or Battier or Hayes. Sure, if we didnt have the aforementioned players, he would be helpful. Now for the Hornets, their current scheme is working. For now. He does seem to help them more than he could the Rockets.
It's amazing how his offensive numbers can be that bad and yet his teams are consistently good. Could it be that his strengths can not be expressed in terms of individual stats? No, that can't be it.
Uh, his numbers sucked last year, and the team wasn't very good. Maybe some people overate his impact. HINT HINT ! He is a net nuetral player IMO. DD
It should be pointed out (again) that the Rockets started off well last year with Ariza, then after 2 months cruised to a 22-29 record. We're not far off that pace right now, so all of these folks pining for Ariza should look closer because we weren't really a much better team with him. Sure we might win a few more games, but that does nothing for us in the long run.
no, but I do regret purchasing NBA League Pass this season so I could watch every game. Its been about a month and I've seen 3 wins. pathetic.
Toronto loss, chalk it up as ANOTHER GAME WE WOULD HAVE WON IF WE HAD ARIZA and not Budinger helping the Raptors in every way possible. once again Rockets could be 8-4 right now if they still had Ariza
Damn that was a good trade. Rockets lost nothing. Ariza would do nothing. We have a better team than last year!
