    Same here.

If you're good at being a manager, it only matters to a certain extent what you manage (e.g., Mark Cuban, or many examples of people who change from one industry to another).

However, being a coach requires very specialized knowledge and experience...I couldn't do it at all.

Of course, Theo Epstein graduated from Harvard and worked for 8 years in the baseball business before becoming GM of the Red Sox. So it's not like they just hired him off the street.

GM: I could be better than all GMs if someone gave me a pair of hindsight glases.

Coach: I could probably do it if brain transplant works.

GMs are business people with basketball knowledge. I am not a business person. But I think some people on this board probably have the combined aptitude of being good at both business and basketball knowledge. All they need is some sort of credential and connections in the NBA circle.

Coaches, on the other hand, need years of on-court experience. Plus, they need the ability to make quick in-game decisions on top of good basketball knowledge. I doubt anybody here can do the job.

Yeah, you got me. I do notice it when I work a RealGm problem - there's a little TK note.

I think the point here is people know Kupchack is lying.
    :p

It's just an excuse to buy time and find out what Kobe is going to do with the Clippers bid. Trade kicker - yeah, sure, that's the hold up.

didn't you say you only spend two hours a day here in that other thread?

Just to point out a few things.

    1. From my observation 2/3 of the posters here didn't mind Moochies or MoT's contract the year he signed it (the general consensus on the board was about 1/3 good, 1/3 ok, and 1/3 bad).

    2. 95% of the posters on the board LOVED the Griffin trade when it went down.

    3. How many people here wiould've made the Glen Rice trade last year? I wouldn't but GM's like CD had to do it because they need to care about profit for the owner too.

Mo would never have been on the roster if I had any input.

Yes, and I am serious. As far as the Rockets the last five years, definitely. Check my record, if you can find it. I was against the Francis trade, that would have saved alot of pain. Except, Ming and Mobley, I would have drafted no one the Rockets did over the last five years. I would have never given Cato, Norris, and Taylor "bloated" contracts, if fact, I would not have signed them at all. Collier, Langhi, Rice, Pike, Griffin, pleassse. I would have never given CD an extention; he would have been gone long ago.(wait, I could be the owner, too!) I actually think I could have coached the Rockets to the mediocre records they have had recently, but I would have shipped Francis long ago. A monkey with an attention deficit disorder could have made better personnel decisions than the Rockets have before the TMac trade. Finally, a spark of human intelligence.

Do you honestly believe you're as good a coach as Rudy and JVG?

I know I'm not. Coaching's a tough thing to do. I was a student assistant for my school's Powder Puff FB team one year, and it was rough. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to coach grown men who are getting paid millions of dollars a year.

I've been described as narcissistic, heartless, and the devil himself in my short time on this earth, so I'd think I'd be perfect as a GM.

As a coach? Eh, probably not...I'd go Ryan Leaf on the press in a week, max.

No I am nowhere as good as Rudy or JVG, but I think I could have accomplished a similar outcome over the last five years; breaking even can't be that hard to do. ;)

I would've traded EG when some teams wanted him before his self destruction. If one can't sense internal disorder and the bad influence he's hanging out with after spending two years with a kid, or knows it but takes no action except waiting out, it shows serious flaw in perception or decision making skills.

I'm afraid that I'll disagree with you. Rudy was actually bad ass at finding the mis matches. He has won two more championships fo Houston than you have. It doesn't matter if you can manage better than Jimmy. He's gone now. Deirker actually put us in the playoffs four or five times in a row. Have fun outcoaching that. MLB is not like basketball. You don't just get into the playoffs cuz you don't suck.
