Do you really think an 8th seed is embarrassing in the West? LOL.

Probably not. Portland is likely to capsize since Roy is playing like a gimpy old man now. Phoenix is already falling off and toying with their lineups to find a winning combination. And New Orleans is falling totally off the table after a red hot start. Denver is going to continue to spiral down because of the Melo situation. The Rockets are likely going to go on a run at some point. They are still good enough that when they get it rolling they will roll through lottery and bottom tier playoff teams like water through a sieve. We'll wind up in the 50 win vicinity by the end of the season. May be 48 but it will be a winning record.

And then the playoffs start and the #1, 2, or 3 seed goes to the finals every single time, with the only recent exception being a 60-game winning 4th seed Dallas.

We go into a 2 game winning streak and suddenly people are talking playoffs?
This team isn't bad but they're not that good either. We're not even at .500 and December is half over.

I know some people don't agree but we're not better than the top 7 West teams right now, that means we're going to be struggling to get the 8th seed (if the playoffs are what we're shooting for). And for those thinking we can upset a 1st seed Lakers, the Lakers aren't even going to be the 1st seed.

Don't be a Debbie Downer. You have to keep believing, keep working, playing game by game. Winners keep fighting and losers throw in the towel.

If you don't play you have zero chance of winning, once your there everything changes and anything can happen. I don't condone tanking and would have hard time rooting for a team that did.

I think it is good for Rockets to be in the Eastern Conference.
Not based on stats, I just have a feeling that Rockets have better percentwin against eastern teams.

we can beat the lakers spurs and mavs in a playoff series, as long as we have all our players and are not playing like scared chumps.

trust me. we can go into a debate on how you "dont think it can be done" and I will tell you how "it can"....and none of it will matter until the time comes...so when the time comes, then we can see who is right. If you think the nets playing miami/boston/orlando is equivalent to us playing lakers/mavs/spurs...thats absolutely off the radar.

and besides sam, how misleading would you like to make "2 games out"

2 games out with 59 left isn't the same as 2 games out with 7 left.

I'm sure everybody has a better win percentage against the Eastern Conference.

no we can't. we have zero defense from our starters at pg, sg, and marginally better d at the pf positions. even with yao 100% (a huge if) we still have a flawed and underpowered team.

we can play good enough defense to outscore them...ummm, we have kyle lowry, shane, jordan hill, chuck hayes, yao, JJ...thats enough D. you act like we play defense like toronto, NY, denver or GS. that's totally wrong buddy. but like i said we can go on forever with this. not interested in doing that..

I'd love to see how we score with a lineup of Lowry, Lee, Shane, Hill, and Hayes try to score.

and to your point about our defense

not here to dive into the world of endless babble about this, robbie. the point of this thread is to help people realize that getting into the playoffs and making a strong run is the goal for the rockets this year, and if the people can't see that, then they are lost and are waisting their time with the 2010-2011 rockets.
