Why would Toronto give up Bosh and NOT take Brooks and some talent with them?

How are they going to tell their fans, "We gave up Bosh and got lotto picks back!"

No, if we get Bosh a young player with a lot of potential is going away, like Brooks. As you said, you gotta give up talent to get it.

So then why do you want playoff experience(no assets)then? The more assets we have the better. Why make lateral moves when you could make moves that upgrade the team

I hate the excuse "we weren't supposed to do anything this year". If u have a shot at making the playoffs you should believe in your team.

A lateral move would be tanking for a pick.

Teams tank for franchise players. We've seen teams tank for years and get nothing out of it but a high pick next year...and the year after that...and after that...

How do you know that one of our players doesn't raise their value in the playoffs? I am really not a fan for tanking unless your team just sucks...which you tank any ways becuase you can't win.

This year, not really. I posted in a thread after Yao went down that I believe any additional victories beyond what was expected this year to just be icing on the cake, and that we should simply focus on giving Yao as much time as he needs to come back 100% or as close to it as possible, get playing time for the younger players, display our assets, keep what we want, and trade what we can get better value for. That's exactly what we've done, and I'm fine with it. Go Rockets.

Of course I want us to make the playoffs. I always want the Rockets to win as much as possible. Even though we lost in recent playoffs, those are the most exciting games I have been to.

You can't count on the fact that we will get a good lottery pick, if we tank, who knows? Who is 100% sure that Yao won't get injured next year? I do not want to be floundering in lottery land for years dammit!

So you would rather have 8 more years first round exits

Why would making the playoffs mean 8 more years of first round exits?

That would mean the team would need a complete rebuild.

No, I would rather have a win now mentality. Would rather have a New York Knick like team for the next 8 years? Or how about the Kings? Or maybe the Warriors?

The only reason we haven't won big the last couple of years is because of injuries. The last couple of years we have had a win now mentality, and it has gotten us much talent.

There is nothing worse to me than floundering in lotto land, and the only way to get out is by a stroke of good luck, which the Rockets haven't had much of lately.

    Bingo.

You can also get talent by winning, getting that losing mentality and players just want to bolt as soon as they can to go win somewhere else. Thats why those teams stay in lottoland, they can never keep the talent they draft.

    Did the rockets get a losing mentality then they went to the lottery to get this guy?<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/fVeMdUh0KO4&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/fVeMdUh0KO4&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

    Nope.

It's also given us the reputation as a classy franchise that players would like to play for. Look at Kevin Martin's comments when he got here. Even Artest when he came here last year.

Thats the kind of talent you get by winning, proven guys who want to come here to win. Not to miss the playoffs and draft some guy that will replace them probably.

If that is your opinion, fine. We will lose the majority of the games for the rest of this year. Somehow, we will get the number one pick in the draft, and pick up John Wall. Move over Kevin Martin.

    BINGO PROBLEM SOLVED

    What about this?

We lose the rest of our games for a good draft pick. Yao Ming says screw the money and opts out because he wants to WIN NOW.

it's a win-win situation. if we make the playoffs then at worst we get playoff experience. if we miss the playoffs then we maybe move up a few spots in the draft. so, no. do not care. don't want to tank tho.
