I am wondering the same thing, wherever they pick in the draft, I don't expect them to keep the selection
Exactly!! That would be awesome for our rookies if they got playoff experience. Being on the big stage and competing would be just what they need. In all honesty, I believe that is what significantly helped Brooks and Landry.. So yeah the goal should be to make the playoffs.
I really wish I did not care... It is getting really painful to watch this team. It would be a wonderful feeling to lose a game and then be able to feel happy about it. Unfortunately there is nothing I can do to feel that way. So until we are not mathematically eliminated, then yes I care.
Ar first I didn't relish the thought of the Rockets being the 8th seed and meeting the Lakers, but on second thought it could be fun. While they might not win the series, you can be sure there will be games like last postseason where they just outhustle and embarrass the other team. This is a scrappy group of competitors and they just looove playing the underdog role, a David to the opposing team's Goliath. They might not look it now, but they'll put up a good fight once the playoffs begin.
How can you guys not want to make the playoffs? Even if we get tha 8th seed and lose in the first round, don't you realize how attractive that makes us look to big name free agents? If this depleted Rocket team got to the playoffs and gave a valiant effort, why wouldn't a big FA want to come here knowing that they have Yao Ming coming back next year for additional help. We need to get Houston on the map. You don't do that by losing.
Of course I want the team to make the playoffs. Experience counts in everything in life and just getting some playoff experience would be nice for the team to get ready for next year. Go Rockets!!!
I completely agree. Making the playoffs would be awesome, and I think the goal is to get a sign and trade with max powerforward. Imagine if we get chris bosh or amare (i hope bosh) for scola, battier, and some. Damn what kind of team would we have? And by making the playoffs we would be making such a ridiculous statement. I vote to make the playoffs. If we don't definitely wouldnt mind a draft pick. I wont cry about it. But it would still be nice to make the playoffs.
Not yes, but HELL YES. I want the team to win. I want to win and make the playoffs. I want to win once we get to the playoffs. I never want to see a team I cheer for playing to lose.
I think if the wording of this poll was different, my answer would change. Do I really care about making the playoffs? No, not really anymore, because it's looking less and less like they'll make it. So, I'm looking for them just to develop chemistry, improve the team play, and prepare for next year. Do I want them to make the playoffs? Yes, I'd love that, but it won't break my heart if they don't. Now, next year when (if) Yao is back and healthy, I really do care about them making the playoffs.
Exactly. I know a higher draft pick is more important, but I'm selfish. My life is sad and empty during the offseason...
Why wouldn't everybody want them to make the playoffs? As a fan perspective, it's the the best time of the season. The only time I've ever heard it that loud in the Toyota Center is when they were going through the streak. The thing that bothers me is people talking about rebuilding, and the future prospects. Doesn't it make sense that having the team make the playoffs gives them experience that they can't get anytime else?
I think you kinda contradicted yourself there. Are FA going to want to come to Houston because of Yao or because we scrapped into the playoffs? If we don't make the playoffs, does that mean we aren't scrappy? I just don't see making the playoffs being a difference maker for FAs. Yao is going to make the difference. Our deficiencies are obvious and have been known to all before the season started. Yao addresses most of those issues and that's what makes us a contender.
No.I care about building a champion team.I could care less about one and done first round exit.Ive seen that movie for 12 years strait .The Win now theory doesn't work.
The whole idea tanking for a better draft pick is stupid to me - and I'm sure it's stupid to Adelman and Morey... only clowns on this board think that that's actually a good idea. If we don't make the playoffs, we'll be the 9th or 10th seed in the West and have like 13th or 14th pick in the draft... as opposed to making the playoffs as the 8th seed and having like the 18th or 19th pick in the draft... the talent there is not going to change that much. It's not like we have a shot at the 1st pick and getting John Wall or anything, so we're better off just hoping the Knicks summer doesn't go well and we get their pick next year. Honestly I would like to see us make the playoffs because it would be an accomplishment to be able to do that without Yao and T-Mac. That being said, I'm a realist and we're probably not going to make the playoffs... cuz we're in the West and it's just too deep and we're still not playing well enough...unless Scola, Brooks and Martin put up 30 each every game like they did against the Spurs it's just not going to happen.
i do want the team to make the playoffs actually. it'll be great for this group of guys to gain some experience playing and growing together. they'll be even better next year if they go through a playoff series. plus, watching the rockets on national TV for the first time, unless it's on NBATV.
I care about winning, that's it. I mean, fine fine, there's no realistic chance making any fireworks in the playoffs, so I don't really care about getting there. I just want the Rockets to win. The idea of hoping your team loses and aiming for a bad record simply for the draft lottery absolutely disgusts me. Go be a Knicks or Nets fan if that's the kind of mindset you have. I mean, yes, if you're just being mindlessly logical, it makes sense. And yet it's the complete of why sports exist: to win. Being competitive. The competition. There's a fine line between caring about the future and being true to your team. By hoping "your" team loses, you show the complete disconnect you have with them. They're not hard working players to you, they're statistics in a boxscore. Show up at a Rockets home game with that attitude. Tell everyone there that you hope they lose. Let's see how that goes over.
you never know what could happen. we were close to beating LA with no Yao, maybe we would have lost to Denver, but maybe not. Plus, playoffs bring maturity and experience, all of which transfers to next season. The more we make the playoffs, the easier it is for our players.
