Morey is now pissing his pants for trading a potential sixth man of the year Carl Landry for the no defense Kevin Martin.
As i said its his cardinal sin ...... dude can go to hell just for this mistake .... the god death awaits him
Actually, fans on this board over rate heart and passion. They see players with heart and passion...and few physical skills...and make some sort of weird mental/emotional (and in some cases arithmatic) connection. It wasn't the heart and passion of Wafer, Landry or Artest that made them valuable. It was talent. Von Wafer was excellent in transition, Landry an excellent backup PF and Artest (for all of his heat-check field goal attemps) plays well on both sides of the court. I don't specifically miss this trio. But I do somewhat miss the fact that all three could score, play transition D and O and knew something of team defense.
Maaybe Von Wafer will grow up and be a completely different person, ala Ron Artest, who I do I miss. But Wafer, not so much. It was definitely fun watching a player with his athleticism for the first time since McGrady over Bradley dunk, but clearly he's a headcase. The fight with Delonte sealed it for me. And Landry, yes I miss him, too. But watching Kevin Martin, who really doesn't look like he belongs on an NBA basketball court, put up crazy, ridiculously efficient offensive numbers every night is just amazing. All in all, I'd say Landry and an expensive corpse for Martin, Jeffries, Hill, AND two future first rounders has a smile on my face. I'm not sure Landry could have much of an effect on this start it he and Lowry who made that bench so special. I personally miss AB more than any of them. He's certainly not an ideal point guard, but I hope his absence ends the Lowry should start or trade AB BS. He may be small and a liability definsively, but he more than makes up for it with his shooting ability combined with his quickness/willingness to get into the paint....and actually make his floaters and layups *cough rafer*. To top it all off, we STILL haven't seen how Yao, Brooks, and Martin all compliment each other. And that one guy from somewhere in South America, too. Assuming Yao's suspicious injury isn't serious, we're still a team capable of winning 7-8 games in a row several times during the next 70 games. Who ya gonna guard? I see why you miss the great memories of Artest, Wafer, and Landry. Hard to believe that magic ended a year and half ago. Man, I still remember ever so clearly the Artest to Brooks half-court alley-oop and the Hayes to Landry from the slam. But I suppose getting beat handily by the Raptors will do that to a man.
We do, and it doesn't help that our current alpha dog is out for 3 more weeks after spraining his ankle on a last second half court heave. Brooks may not be a Superstar, but he was this team's most important player and our on the floor leader. DD
Maybe this is Morey's plan to get an alpha dog. He has already decided that Yao will not be resigned, so he and Adelman tank the season like the Spurs for a 25% chance to get Harrison Barnes.
I honestly don't think they meant to tank, that they meant to give it one more go with Yao. And HOPE that he can hold up....well.....didn't happen, so on to the next thing. Guess we are all just caught in the middle of this mess. DD
I miss having the confidence that every night we had a good chance to win. Now... the only confidence I have is the fact we'll probably find a way to lose.
