I'm interning at KPMG right now, going to finish up school with an MBA next year. Then the CPA exam, then who knows, probably more public. I like it, I guess. I'm not really sure that I want to be an accountant, but I'm okay with the decision I made. There are times when I wish I had gone to culinary school, but I figure that if I decide I really do want to be a cook, I can find an upscale restaurant and offer to wash dishes, work my way up.
After interning in Heaven I landed a job as a defense attorney with the NASA Intergalactic Space Law division. Works on the ladies
That's interesting! How are you doing with that in Asia? Is it working out for you? Why did you decide to do music in Asia as opposed to the states?
I own a small trucking company and i miss driving the big truck sometimes. So about 2 months out the year, i drive. Other than that, i do nothing besides watch alot of coaches tape and talk trash on this site.
I run the German-speaking business for an online ticketing company that was founded by Americans and is headquartered in London. Recently, I have also been given the responsibility for our internationalization efforts (Spain, Italy, France, Netherlands, etc.). I love that part as it is a good challenge and I actually like to travel, even on business trips. I really like my job as it never gets boring - I am dealing with the live entertainment industry, so I negotiate with concert promoters, venue operators, sports teams...and as a nice side benefit, I get to go to all sorts of great events and to all matches of my favorite soccer team of which we are a sponsor. If the company ever achieves a good exit like its predecessor in the US did, there is also some potential upside there for me. I am also a shareholder in a small online (skill) gaming company which I started and which is based in Malta. The gaming industry is interesting, but I wouldn't want to work in it full-time. So I guess I am involved with two industries that some might consider somewhat shady (online gaming and online "scalping"), which might seem a bit odd for a lawyer, but I definitely like all this more than working in one of the big law firms, which was my original plan when I was a student.
Knocked around at odd jobs, civil engineer, (I knew I hated it when I graduated), worked as a social worker, AFDC and food stamps, a librarian, vehicle driver of various types, school bus, lunch wagon, delivery driver, technical headhunter etc. before law school which I finished at 35. Since then I have worked for myself except for a small initial stint at a non-profit immmigration law clinic, have worked primarily in immigration, criminal, and disability law with the folks American society blows off. Like my work as I am the boss. Great assistant of 15 years and recently have a part time lawyer employee, which is like herding a cat. It has turned out well for me. Could be talked into being a union organizer like a couple of my friends.
it's going pretty well, can't complain. i'm wrapping up my next album right now and it should be released in a few months. biggest problem out here is piracy though.
functional big4 database consultant, hired out of school. "normal working hours" don't apply... can go several months without an assignment, dreading the termination phone call... but you're also at home doing absolutely nothing or sending an e-mail to get staffed. but when you are working, you're flying out on monday at 5am, home on thursday at 5pm, and working 50-60 hours. friday's the 8 hour day. pay's good, but i don't know any better since this is my first job. probably going to be exploring the market or leaving the corporate world altogether in a year or two, after getting promoted past the point where i'd be considered "entry level". would love to have my own restaurant/bar business, or to work at a startup.
As Dave Ramsey say, you need to hunt and kill something and bring it home to eat. Dont ever dred being laid off, start something you like to do and get good at it. They can never outsource you because you're the boss. IrocIt, you drive big rigs? I might have a driver moving out of the houston area and might need another driver.
I own Tony Thai's. My second restaraunt opened a few months ago. I love my job. I get to spend time with my family or play golf every day of the week. I owe it to my great management though.
Wow. Cool. That's the joint in the plaza near Kim Son right? I've not had a chance to go there but a Thai guy I work with told me that's one of the best Thai places in town when I asked him where to go.
yup thats the place. Ron Artest and some of his friends came in a few months back before playoffs started. It was pretty neat.
