There is zero downside to this deal. We save a million in salary...we bring a young, 22 year old to Houston and his contract ends at the end of the year. If we want to resign him, then we do. If not, then we lose nothing. Good trade.
Nah, this team has a clear hierarchy....it will help a young player like him a LOT ..... Nothing like a motivated young player who comes to a team and learns from hard workers like Shane and Yao... DD
thats the only upside to all of this, is that maybe JUST maybe he can take his head out of his ass and stop thinking he is some bad ass dunk champion (cause he really isn't......who does a dunk called birthday cake??? ) and learn something or two from shane tmac and/or yao. though like someone earlier mentioned, and i read it before i posted, his contract is up after this season, if he is a bust, then thats good cause we don't have to resign him and that leaves us extra $$$ for a free agent. if he learns something and plays well, which i am hoping for, then we resign him!
Green is nothing but upside and potential we will have a great young core of athletes- Novac, Landry, Brooks and Green. Given a year or two these players will be giving great support in the Yao Ming Line up. With Coach A they all will get a chance to develop.
He adds athleticism, seems like he is just finding himself. Low risk. This isn't a big splash, doesn't make us a top contender or anything. I am still so ticked about the Bonzi-BJ trade that I am too angry to even think through this one.
I like this trade better than the Bobby Jackson trade, heard it on SportsRadio 610 going from Best Buy in Sugar Land... "This helps Kirk Synder more than the rockets getting Gerald Green..." So I was like: ??? Then the SportsRadio 610 Sports Flash confirmed my curiousity! Welcome to Houston, Gerald Green!!! My prediction on this 22 yr old kid? Once he develops under Rick Adleman and Co., he will be a poor man's Rudy Gay... then once he's at his prime, he will be Rudy Gay or better!
Works for me. Green is from Houston, he'll be happy to play here, he has more upside than Snyder, and he's very young. Why not? There is no disadvantage to this trade.
I voted yes, but I'm more of a "...yeah, I guess..." kinda yes as opposed to a "OH YESSSS!!!" kinda yes.
I don't get this kind of response; the team has just won... what... 13 of 14 games or something. We tinkered with our bench. On the one hand we got more experienced (Jackson) and on another hand we got a marksman (Haluska) and on the other hand we got a great athlete who has a severe upside (Green). I like both trades; I'm not saying we couldn't have done more but these trades save money, don't mortgage the future, tread water competitively (where we are fine), and translate to more flexibility in the future. ... and that's all I've got to say about that... -- Forrest Gump
