Like I said before, Dr. Pepper World Headquarters is within a mile of where I am sitting at this very moment. The sign out front says Dr. Pepper and 7-Up. There is no Pepsi affiliation. In fact, Dr. Pepper/7-Up was purchased by Cadbury Schweppes in 1995. If you don't believe me check it out here.
I'm a Coca Cola guy, but my wife will only drink Diet Coke....which tastes nothing like the real thing. Trying to lose some weight too, I tried Pepsi One. Now I'm not a big fan of Pepsi products, but they tried to make Pepsi One taste like regular Coca Cola, and damn if they didn't do a pretty good job. I drink a lot of Pepsi One now, and I tell my wife it's the REAL Diet Coke.
OK, maybe I shot my mouth off a little too quickly. A guy here at work who use to work for Pepsi informed me that Pepsi does help distribute Dr. Pepper, at least in parts of Texas. Doesn't change the fact that Dr. Pepper and Pepsi are still seperate companies.
I just don't like colas in general. I think they're kind of nasty, and I don't understand why everyone drinks them so much... But if I have to, I drink Pepsi cause it's sweeter, and at least it masks the awful awful taste somewhat... I'm all about Root Beer though.
Coke leaves a god-awful aftertaste and Pepsi does not. Why do you think Coke went through that whole identity crisis a decade ago: their product is inferior. It is only their iconic status that makes them any money at all (well, that and their exploitative, monopolistic practices in 3rd world countries). Whenver I do get a rum and coke or some such, I see if I can't do it with Pepsi.
Hehehe at least you can admit your mistake. A lot of companies are owned by bigger companies who are owned by even bigger companies. Whats funny is most americans think coco-cola is the most popular choice world wide. I believe Coco-cola is only most popular here in the States, while pepsi is more popular world wide.
(the following only refers to diet drinks, I can't stand the sugar ones Diet Coke is better than Diet Pepsi, but I make myself buy whichever is cheaper. Diet Dr. Pepper is better than either one. I do like Mountain Dew (the new red Mountain Dew is really good). But watch out. When they say "do the Dew", they are not kidding. Do drink it if you're about to fall asleep. Do not drink it if you have to do anything that requires calm and concentration (like taking an exam).
Coke from the fountain, Pepsi out of the bottle. Dr. pepper is the bomb too---but tastes way better in Louisiana (when I visit the grandparents) than in the midwest.
