I'm excited about the Yao Ming pick. I don't see how people can be so worried about a guy that shoots 75% from the field. The only concern I have is can the guy stay healthy? But, you will have that concern with anyone in this game. As far as the Nacbar pick goes, I think they should have gone with Qyntel Woods. Didn't the Rockets have one of the worst defenses in the league last year? I know people say Qyntel doesn't play defense well. But, people said that about Kobe when he came into the league too. People who are great athletes become at least average defenders. Sure, Qyntel might not be the best 3 point shooter left at the 15th pick, but I'm tired of relying on 3 pointers to win basketball games. I haven't seen more than short clips of either of these guys playing, but every article I've read about Woods compared him to McGrady, and that's an exciting variety of basketball to watch. I'm also not a believer in the "look at what he did at the workout" hype. I like the Tito Maddux pickup. Nice to know there will be an actual point guard on the team. I love Steve Francis and just about everything about his game, but he doesn't always look to pass the ball first. Teams win when they can move the ball effectively. It allows teams to get more open shots. GO ROCKETS! My 2 cents.
woods slipped to 21 for a reason. nachbar was supposed to go at pick #14 to the Pacers, but a phone call earlier to Nachbar's agent left Indiana with the conclusion that he really only wanted to play for Houston. The Rockets made the right choice at #15 considering their need to have a productive small forward for right now, not some project to work on for the next 5 years.
Maddox will be a big surprise in this draft. It will open the door for a KT/Brown trade for a shooting guard and/or draft picks
I like Ming and Nachbar, but Maddox intrigues me. I like Moochie's first year with us but last year really made me cringe when he entered. PG was our 3rd position that needed help. I have a good feeling with him, but then I had the same feeling when we drafted Dan Langhi.
