Michael Adams had the ugliest shot in NBA history.

He made Shawn Marion's jumper look picture perfect.

In my very first fantasy league, Fat Lever was ranked in the top 5 players. That was a long time ago.

When I first saw this thread, I though Fat Lever was a Rocket killer.

espn classic shows some game between the Rockets and Nuggets from 1990 that features most of those old Nuggets, English, Lever, Adams. Its pretty entertaining.

I used to love watching him play for the Nuggets except when he tore us a new one and even though I hated the Nuggets for Hanzlik and Schayes. He was one of the most underrated players at his position during that era. Good all around guard that could score, pass, and rebound.

I remember the story behind "Fat" as a nickname went something like his little brother couldn't say "Lafayette" or something.

To say he was "obscure" is insane. Now Doug Lee.... that's another story.

He was incredible, and he burned the Rockets frequently. A very, very good player.

Wasn't it Fat that was in the NBA Commercials where he was being guarded by someone in front of him and he bounced the ball between the defender's leg, caught it and continued his dribble behind him? Or was that Adams? Either way, that was slick. :)

i knew the name fat lever but i would've guessed he played in the early 70's if asked. however, i was watching the nba by the end of his career, and i'm pretty sure the game pgabriel is talking about is hakeem's 52 point game which i saw back when it happened toward the end of the 89-90 season. and i saw it when it was just on classic so presumably i saw fat lever. maybe he was injured, b/c i don't really remember hearing the name during the game.

but you can't really blame them for the obscure comment, i mean, he did play for the nuggets.:)

I brought up that name once in chat. Some other guy knew immediately who he was, even which pick he was and what year, even the college the guy was from.

    Some hardcore fans in chat.

I also remember Fat Lever, Michael Adams, and Alex English. Those guys were scoring machines. Michael Adams weird outside shot - it looked like he was hurling his body towards the basket, then chucking the ball in mid-flight - and Alex English's fadeaways are what I remember most from those teams.
