He's right, and I'm glad he calls them out on it.

I don't like it. He's too defensive. He has to understand his paycheck comes from us viewers and us viewers want him to answer questions. If you don't want to be involved in the media then don't be coaching a nationally televised sport.

His paycheck comes from the owner.
And not answering questions hasn't seemed to impact his salary thusfar.

I get that but the money is being generated from the audience (us). Sure, he can do it but that wasn't the question.

Meh. Pop could be a complete ******* and I'd bet it'd generate even more views. If he were quiet, docile, and cooperative, nobody would care about his press conferences.

I don't even watch these press conferences, the only ones I've watched are the ones where something LOL-worthy or cringe-worthy happens. Pop interviews, Metta World Peace's championship interview, LeBron and Wade baffled at George's r****ded comments. Hibbert telling the reporters "Y'all Mother****ers", etc.

So the argument could be that he may generate even more views with this behavior. :p

True, in that case most people don't have any issues with his interviewing style. Hence the poll heavily agrees with you.

What's the point...I don't think the greater viewing public cares about these interviews. I zone out these things or change the channel. Pop is doing wonderful job.

Once in a while I think he's playing his character a little too hard to the point of being an actual jerk.

But, I mean, I still look forward to the segments more than those of all other coaches combined, so obviously it's working and my answer has to be "no, I don't mind".

I wonder what the response would be if McHale said that to reporter.

Not running thin. People just like to find things to complain about.

If the media wants him to answer, they need to ask something meaningful. Things like "Did you think your team didn't play the way they wanted to play tonight?" when they lost by 10-20 points is just dumb. What kind of answer do you expect? I like Pop's mockery of the media. He's basically telling them, if they want viewers to be a fan of basketball the sport and not reality TV, then they need to ask better questions

This nailed it and thankfully plenty seem to agree. Okay, you're "hard-nosed" - we get it, and we're reeeealllly scared.

I am greatly offended by Pop's interview style. I always tell my kids to leave the room whenever he turns up on tv.
