Absolutely. There’s being conservative then there’s being a cult member and/or compromising morality.

I don’t use it much and honestly, I haven’t seen or talked to 99% of ‘friends’ on FB for 20+ years.

 

It depends on what I'm doing. 75% of the people in the shooting club and competition have opposite political beliefs as I do. Mostly we don't talk much, sometimes they will ask about a supposedly liberal point of view. We mostly don't talk about it at all and if things come up it's usually only a one line attempt at humor and not any kind of discussion.

My tennis teams and competitors are pretty diverse in their political opinions from what I can tell. Mostly it seems everyone is reapectul and they don't really discuss it at all because that isn't related to having fun.

At work most of the people are those that lean left but again nobody talks politics at the work place very much.

More than half of my close friend group used to be very conservative and Republican. We would talk occasionally and find which areas where we could find common ground and which areas we would dead ends. Then we didn't discuss. After 2016, I don't think any of them support Trump. Maybe one guy is, but we've all stopped talking about politics.

People that I work with or know from film and music fall somewhere on the left side of the spectrum. We usually don't discuss politics either.

Those of my family who were Republican stopped being so with the way the party is now. I have one branch of the family that are still MAGA. Mostly, the rest of us and the MAGA branch don't discuss politics. When we do, everyone is mostly respectful. Sometimes tempers will start flaring and usually we can say let's agree to disagree.



So mostly we don't discuss politics in person. But it depends on which social group I'm with as to where they fall politically.
