I for one do not like to play soccer and I can't stand to watch it either. Let the rest of the world enjoy, I'll stick with good old American Football.

I hate watching soccer, but have great respect for the athletic ability and stamina of those that play it.

Even at local tournament that I've watched, these guys are fit, thighs like sequoias, calves like bowling pins, running around non-stop.

I've known a few people who play soccer that had never really played basketball, but could hang in pick-up games simply because they have the stamina to run up and down full speed all day long without getting fatigued like the rest of us sorry out of shape wannabe ballers.

NBAers that played soccer: Steve Nash, Hakeem...didn't Steve Francis even play a little soccer growing up?....any other NBAers that played soccer?

Still, watching soccer on TV SUCKS!!!! :D

Kind of, you have to want to watch it first.

It is on Fox Sports Net but not on regular TV...so if you don't know you will miss it.

Pretty weak thread. "I hate it because it's stupid?" At least make reasonable arguments. Personally, baseball or boring ball as I call it is the worst sport to watch. Whenever I need a nap, I turn on any baseball game. First off, there's no action at all, and it takes at least 2.5 minutes between each pitch and we have to see close ups of the coach picking his nose, the pitcher grabing his nuts, the batter act like he is swinging, then another shot of the players sitting in the box looking disinterested in what is going on and finally the pitch comes and lasts maybe a second if that and then it's back to the same 2.5 minutes of the same old shots. Man I am falling asleep just typing this. I would rather watch grass grow than watch a baseball game. I think it is so popular in the states b/c rich corporate types and other people go there to drink and socialize. Most don't even really pay attention to the game.

I think the NBA (especially Rockets games) and NFL are by far the best sports in the U.S.. There's continuous drama and action. There's so much athleticism and excitement involved.

Soccer is the best sport in the World and the World Cup by far is the greatest sporting event there is. The Super Bowl is great but usually lacks in excitement (one exception was the one here in Houston last year). The NBA finals are fun but mostly only if you have a rooting interest and b/c it is a 7 game series it tends to drag on. The World Cup is great b/c you have world class players representing their countries, giving it all to win the cup. It's hard to describe it in words but the games are amazing. Yeah there are boring games here and there but that happens in EVERY sport. Knowlegeable sports fans know what I am talking about. And it's not only the World Cup. Try watching the English Premier League - It's like watching the Suns play the Kings, non-stop up and down, back-n-forth action. Try watching Man-U play their rival Arsenal (WOW!!!). Try watching the great clubs in Spain and Italy. Try watching the Champions League. These are events that surpass any sporting event we have here in the states. Peace.
