This site might be a little too much excitement for you soccer fans, but the bravest among you can check it out.
i never could watch a full game of soccer, until the last world cup where brazil played england in the semifinals i think. man those brazillian guys are entertaining to watch. thats what you guys should do. see how they play so maybe you'll understand why soccer is such a popular sport.
uhh, i wish i had that link for that annoying "you are an idiot" site. lol. jk. to each his own.......
American Football>Soccer Rugby>Soccer Australian Football>Soccer Hockey>Soccer Basketball>Soccer Tennis>Soccer thats just watching..playing is a different story
1. Football 2. Western Conference Basketball 3. Baseball 4. Eastern Conference Basketball 341. Squeezing my nuts with a pair of hotdog tongs 342. Soccer
As far as watching goes, world class soccer is right at the top of the list: 1. College football 2. Soccer 3. March Madness 4. Pro football 5. Baseball playoffs 6. Pro basketball
yes, but who cares about women's sports. they have a WNBA champion every year, right? i don't even know who won it last year. hell, does the league even exist anymore?
I don't hate it, I just can't ever seem to get in to it. I've tried but I always end up doing chores. It's similar with Hockey too, but I did enjoy it in the Olympics. I just for some reason can't enjoy Soccer or the NHL. Maybe If I had some sort of rooting interest, but then again I can't even get in to a Houston Aeros game.
maybe you're right, but if the media machine also got involved and we had identifiable stars i think people would take to it. i love it, but i'm not really trying to convert anyone. soccer is surviving nicely without a strong american presence. i would just like, as a fan, to see us kick some euro and s.american tail.
1. March Madness 2. March Madness 3. NBA until 1996 4. NBA since 1996 5. International Soccer 6. NFL I don't see how anyone could hate World Cup/Eurocup soccer. The passion involved in those games is unmatched by anything but March Madness and Olympic Hockey. Even if the sport doesn't play out with a thrill a minute, there's something to be said for the magnitude of each match and each goal.
Soccer is far and away the most popular youth sport in the US ~ it loses popularity as a pro-sport due to the lack of available commercial time during a game. It's very difficult for a network to make money (commercials) when there is only one break at halftime over a 90-minute time span. Without the major network exposure of top teams people lose interest - certainly I have over the years and I played soccer all my life. If the US wanted to build tremendous interest in pro-soccer here again they should take all our top players and create one team then make an agreement to have that team play in one of the top Euro leagues. This I think would be very exciting ~ one team the entire country could get behind.
