That was the guy who was ticking me off, sounding almost like he was hoping Yao's knee was going to swell. Doug Collins is pretty good and fair in his commentary. At least we don't have to listen to Doris Burke, though she seems to have a crush on Scola.
Why in the world would anyone hate Doug Collins? The only thing I don't like about him is that sometimes he tends to be Captain Obvious, but he generally does a great job as an analyst, is usually fair and level headed with his calls, and he's a pleasure to listen to.
I thought Collins commentated well last night. He points out a lot of challenges though, but doesn't really give any ideas or solutions for how to handle them.
Doug Collins is always fantastic. He makes an awesome broadcasting duo with Kevin Harlen. I was going to make a thread applaud his constant praise for Yao Ming last night. I guess some people here think differently.
The TNT commentators are fun to watch. Lots of people complain about Chuck. Well if you listen to him carefully, he is not that bad. He played the games many times and knows better about the games than a lot of us here. BTW, I love that new commercial "old school".
I hate Doug Collins, and not because he's biased against the rockets. It's because he's biased against every team. Whenever a team is starting to pull away he says everything possible that would jinx the other team, pulling out stats about how they won't win, won't hit free throws, won't finish the quarter well, etc., so when he's right you want to kill him. To top it off he does it in a really, really annoying voice. Something about it just grates against me. I can see why players eventually quit on him. Props for the kind Yao comments though.
He keeps on saying how team x (jazz, laker) will back and beat the rockets. Most everything says is just he says is obvious. He always seems to pull for the front runner. I would much rather listen the lakers announcers.
He's a very good commentator with Kevin Harlan, well at least better than the others like Mark Jackson...
How can you hate him? He showed some much appreciation of all the contact and constant fouling Yao had to go through in the first round.
I like Doug Collins and whoever his partner was. (There was a thread about him... recently, just can't remember the name. Last name starts with H...) The game is just smooth with them talking. I don't really noticed him talking a lot, but now that I think about it, he does. Though, lots of time he brings in insightful things that I didn't knew. I like Jeff Van Gundy, but not M. Jackson. I like Hubie and his partner. I dislike Miller greatly, but Mike F. is insightful, only when he isn't arguing with Reggie.
