Bush got all his **** through, exactly what I said. "bush was brilliant enough to have been sitting when one of the worst terrorist attacks happened on his watch, he played those next few weeks brilliantly, showing up at the scene in casual wear and boots on a bull horn talking tough. possibly the greatest photo op in history" He pulled it off, on your watch.
I'm watching the rerun of the Democratic debate,...and the thing that strikes me is how Edwards sounds like a blah-blah condecending lawyer, Obama sounds unsure/untested,...and how Hillary is the best of the Democratic field...
Sham, your legal skills have certainly decayed since we were last in touch. It seems you've now put me on suspension without due process? I'm no legal scholar, but last time I checked there is a constitutional provision guaranteeing me just that. HABEAS CORPWN3D
She might not be a libertarian but on the political spectrum besides things like national security issues she has been further right than many Dems. She's supported free trade and opposed ethanol subsidies, she even voted against higher CAFE standards. From the libertarian side though you might be pleasently surprised that she has voted against legislation that would weaken habeus corpus and also legislation that would strengthen the ability of government to surveil without warrants.
Sam does not owe you due process because Sam isn't the government. Back to civics class with you. To answer the question posed in this thread...I dislike them both (Bush and Hilary) greatly. Bush has been spending like a drunken sailor the night before deployment. Hilary seeks to spend even more than that on a health care system that is well intentioned, but I fear will flop badly in practice. Remember...the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Neither of them have any business in the oval office.
Its pgabriel's fault for showing up at training camp out of shape, pouting and getting outplayed by Alston, James and Head.
Hating either of em is a lot like gettin needlessly riled up n popping a nerve over something Statler or Waldorf say
I think the debate should be over who is worse Bush, Rudy or Hillary? They are all terrible choices in my not so humble opinion. I predict Hillary will be the next president. Can't wait.
You have to take politicians own websites with a grain of salt, just as you have to take anti- websites, both are playing to a particular audience and emphasizing certain things. Her website at the moment is geared towards Democratic primary voters and is going to emphasize a more liberal bent. Her voting record though shows otherwise. Also I disagree with you on NAFTA being an impediment to free trade but that is a subject for its own discussion.
How 'bout the Mexican-American war? You would prefer to have let Mexico invade and assimilate the former Republic of Texas? And how would you have reacted when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor?
My Grandfather fought in the Mexican American war. I'm all for that one. Actually the meant I was joking somewhat... seeing that the Mexican American War was a declared war by Congress and Mexican troops attacked US citizens along the border, crossing the Rio Grande river; I don't have problem with this type conflict. WWII is much more complicated than Japan bombing Pearl Harbor. Did Roosevelt have prior knowledge of the attack? Of course not, so I would say that since Congress declared war and US citizens were attacked by Japanese forces then I don't have a problem with that conflict. Except for alot of problems I have with people who profited greatly from it. War Is a Racket, book written by General Smedley Butler, USMC General Butler was a two time winner of the Congressional Medal of Honor and was one of the most respected US Generals of all time. Excerpt from the forward- War is just a racket. There are only two things we should fight for. One is the defense of our homes and the other is the Bill of Rights. War for any other reason is simply a racket. It may seem odd for me, a military man to adopt such a comparison. Truthfulness compels me to. I spent thirty-three years and four months in active military service as a member of this country's most agile military force, the Marine Corps. I served in all commissioned ranks from Second Lieutenant to Major-General. And during that period, I spent most of my time being a high class muscle-man for Big Business, for Wall Street and for the Bankers. I suspected I was just part of a racket at the time. Now I am sure of it. Like all the members of the military profession, I never had a thought of my own until I left the service. My mental faculties remained in suspended animation while I obeyed the orders of higher-ups. This is typical with everyone in the military service. I helped make Mexico safe for American oil interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys. I helped in the raping of half a dozen Central American republics for the benefits of Wall Street. I helped purify Nicaragua for the international banking house of Brown Brothers in 1909-1912. I brought light to the Dominican Republic for American sugar interests in 1916. In China I helped to see to it that Standard Oil went its way unmolested. During those years, I had, as the boys in the back room would say, a swell racket. Looking back on it, I feel that I could have given Al Capone a few hints. The best he could do was to operate his racket in three districts. I operated on three continents.
