Not that it's worth arguing about, but I don't think "washing" requires soap. At least according to most dictionaries. I use soap (anti-bacterial, which most "bath" soaps aren't) on my hands, that's all the germ protection you really need.
I shampoo my hair daily and have not used any gel or other hair products in 10 years. Every time I go to get my hair cut, the barber compliments my hair texture.
The product I use can make me breakout so I now shampoo and condition 5 times a week. It definitely has taken a toll on my hair's feel and look. But its either my face or hair so... my girlfriend uses dry shampoo - look into that.
I think advisability depends on your particular hair and it's length. Oils come from your skin and descend the shaft of the hair to cover it. If your hair is long, that process takes longer. If your hair is curly, it takes longer. Now, I have short and relatively straight hair, so I haven't had trouble despite shampooing it all the time. When I had long hair, I used shampoo maybe once a week. Men generally don't worry about this stuff because their hair is usually short enough to make it irrelevant. But, if it's a problem, that's what conditioner is for.
Yes. I understand why you probably shouldnt, but if you're active it's hard not to. It's really short though, so it's a very quick wash and rinse.
