Did you watch the game last night? This was part of Cav's strategy, fish Yao outside by taking Iglauskas outside. Since Iglauskas can shoot from 18 feet away, Yao had to at least go out and bother him - otherwise Iglauskas would have shot more. In any case, taking Yao out means Yao does not get as many rebound opportunities. In fact, you'd notice that often it was the guards who were inside the paint as they are chasing Cav's guards who tried to take it to the basket. You might say, why should Yao go out of the paint? Well, 3-sec violation threat is one. Another is no one else can really bother Iglauskas as the guy is 7'3", only slightly shorter than Yao.
1) I agree he does pick up stupid fouls but he has gotten ALOT better since his rookie season 2) He gets stripped alot but so do all big men, he can't helped being double and triple teamed immediately, he has definately keeping the ball up in the air and being stripped MUCH LESS than rookie year.
why should we drop it? can you really imagine dirk nowitzki winning the mvp award? can you really imagine yao winning the mvp award? i just can't. i mean dirk and yao are still very underrated by a lot of people. so they need to be clearly the best to have a chance. i don't see that happen for anyone of them. when the cavs win 55 games and lebron gets his usual amazing stats he will be the mvp. it doesn't matter if yao averages 26-10-2 with 55 wins under his belt. and it doesn't matter if dirk nowitzki averages 26-10 with 60 wins under his belt. lebron will be the mvp. and so would nash or kobe.
i agree with you, DD. Yao can grab the rebounds that he goes after. Now should he go after every single rebound that comes off the rim??? Last year he had no choice. Whether it was his own miss on the offensive end or anyone else's he went hard after the rebound. Points were hard to come by. Now im not saying that we're scoring points with ease this year, but i think he knows that its really important for him to stay in the game...so he doesnt go hard after every rebound, cuz he knows he'll get called for a silly over the back foul. i think yao is smarter for that... thats why i think he only grabs the rebounds that come directly to him
Dirk hasn't won the MVP because of a guy named Steve Nash - who by the way isn't American. That's right - a non-American has won the MVP the last two years over players like Dirk, Lebron, and Wade. So before you start crying, just think about that.
LeBron has no business winning the MVP unless the Cavs win 60+ games. The East is so pathetic this year that a team winning 50-55 games in that conference should be meaningless.
