Uh, your wrong actually. The Red Rowdies were born right here on Clutchfans ...by fans themselves 4 seasons ago. But you wouldn't know that because you are a noobie. I attended each game and at the time, we had to pay for our own tickets. We made so much noise, that I remember JVG looking up at us trying to figure out where the noise was coming from. ...and that is what inspired JVG to just pony up to pay for the block of seats himself as he realized how much energy a mere 50 people could add to the whole building. As a past Rowdy, they are as rabid fans as you'll find. What you are seeing isn't forced ...it is real. I can't tell you how many tears were shed by guys and girls after we got bumped from the playoffs the last two years. Litterally ...tears. How about you? You shed any tears after a loss? The Rowdies also go on road trips to San Antonio and Dallas ...paid for out of pocket ...just for fun. At least twice, the police litterally wish us good luck getting to you car (in sarcasm) as we leave the building. Here we are in Dallas last year. Were the Rowdies being forced then too? Whether you feel it's forced or not, I'm not sure you appreciate the level of effort it takes to be a Rowdy. To keep that energy level for the whole game ...all season long. Until I see your happy ass at games cheering ...lets not hear from you TYPING about how lame the Rowdies are.
At least they make some noise, that's all there is to it. By the way, to Tinman, Houston fans were never really excited about the team until they won the championship. Before that, even in 93-94, there were many empty seats and a quiet crowd. It was better than now, but before Clutch City, it was almost as dead as it is now. The Rockets will never get home court advantage unless another streak starts and the fans will start cheering. People underestimate the effect of a crowd that's behind the team as opposed to some fans who're just sitting there waiting to leave.
spoken like a true vet. original red rowdy here as well. waiting for my boy oomp to lay the smack down.
How can you be annoyed by fans that have the balls to shout, yell and scream with passion? If it's embarrassing or annoying, try getting in on it and show some passion yourself you just might like it. I like the idea of moving the Red Rowdies down to the lower bowl and moving some of those white collar business guys out. Before Les owned the Rockets though, I remember the Rockets tickets being the cheapest tickets in town. As a matter of fact, there were practically giving away free tickets with a loaf of bread.
"That would be the dumbest nickname in the history of professional sports." That is freaking hilarious!!! I completely agree with everything BrooksBall had to say...
The thread creator is a corporate business man. He want peace and quiet at the game so he can discuss business plans with his college.
The Red Rowdies find YOU annoying. We got to dress up like Rowdies and sit with them last season for the Heat TNT game. It was so much fun. We even got on the jumbo-tron for holding up the D and the Fence the whole game. Its just a mother****ing travesty to me that the iPhone-checking Polo shirts in the lower bowl seem to be annoyed by anyone who actually is passionate about their team. They can all die in a fire.
Red Rowdies are great. They are very energetic. Some of the other lower bowl "fans..." wow, talk about pathetic. Last playoff I went to Game 5, and I was nearly blinded by all the blue polar/dress shirts I saw. I was sitting in the lower bowl, and was very disappointed by some of the fans. It's the freaking playoffs, and they wore blue shirts. I bet you that the Rockets saw the same thing I saw, and hence... the slogan, "Get Red."
i love the idea of the rowdies, but they need to do a better job coordinating with the PA announcer. the last game i went to they were very distracting because they were completely out of sync with the announcer. when the announcer was leading de-fense chants, the rowdies would do their own chants. this happened throughout the whole game and made it confusing for the other fans to get on board because some would follow the announcer, others would follow the rowdies, and the whole place was out of sync.
They need to split the red rowdies up in groups of 5 or something. This year my tickets are on the rowdies side and frankly i feel overshadowed now haha. I used to yell and punk players/refs and get all the old people mad dogging me with the younger people joining. Now no one can hear me. Besides you put 5 loud people in each section and it will annoy the crap out of the corporate pricks and in turn motivate real fans to join in.
Yes so many people forget that the Rowdies were born here...I still have my shirts from when they would just offer us a discount to sit together....I think even the Rockets have forgotten that Red Rowdies started here. Its a shame to see the crowd on TV....but only way to solve it is to flipflop the second tier and the lower bowl....maybe that would work better...they will still have great seats..and things will look sooo much better on TV
My introduction to the BBS as a community was through a Red Rowdies and Clutchfans trip up to dallas. I was a lurker, and Dave2000 had an extra ticket. I met them up here and showed up in a Shane Battier jersey. I'm still here. And I've never had more fun AT a game in my life. ...Well, except seeing Steve Novak bury that 3 against Sacramento. That was pretty awesome. I managed to get lower bowl, center court. 7th row. Yeah, we stuck out like a sore thumb down there.
I think they should let Red Rowdies roam the isles of the TC to hype everyone up….especially the lower bowl.
I'm all for the Red Rowdies. This is a basketball game! This is our team! Hell yeh make some noise! Don't like it? Don't come to a basketball game. If any of you guys know any of the Red Rowdies please pass them the Get Red song link. There's reference to them in it and I think they'd enjoy it. http://www.4shared.com/file/70592872/3b71676/Get_Red__Rockets_Anthem_-_3_Four_ft_Don_Juan_Vidal.html
"It's the thought that counts" "At least they are trying" "It's better then nothing" "I wouldn't be caught dead with them if I wanted to preserve whatever small dignity I have but I have their back" "Half of them don't even know the players outside Tmac and Yao but yay Rowdies!" "Cheering and circling around the TC after getting blown out is total FAIL material but go Rowdies!"
their dedication and spirit is to be admired. But I do believe that tryouts should be done behind closed doors, away from the western media. This will prevent any person just trying to get air time on the news segments! power to the rowdies! And whoever wears the V for Vendetta mask, you are great!! =)
