fair enough. i'm probably just projecting my own lifestyle too much and remembering what it was like to live with 3 siblings in a household of less than $50k. i guess inflation is a b****.
I used to make 20K/year student stipend and lived with the wifey (without kids of course) very happily without any debt and we even travelled a lot. Now we make several times of that amount but I don't feel much richer.
looking at how long this thread is... im assuming most people worry too much about this kind of thing
http://www.city-data.com/income/income-Houston-Texas.html 70% of houston has a household income of less than 75k so you have no Idea of what you are talking about. Maybe you grew up in a Indian household, and that has skewed your view, but you can have a comfortable life making less than 150k.
Wow guys. Most of my life was spent being happy for what I have...not for what I wanted. And most of the time I felt pretty damn lucky.
Moot point. You have no idea what my expenses are now and they're absolutely not for luxury stuff. As I said, I used to live very comfortably with my 20k/year graduate assitant stipend. What does a fuvking indian household has anything to do with what is being talked about?
I think he means that you get daily exposure to delicious spices. That is assuming that you're of Indian descent.
When it's accumulated too much and too dense inside the house, it becomes obnoxious. It's the worst stimulator to the sensual cells inside your nose among the whole human civilization.
Most Indian parents are doctors, Business Owners, engineers, etc. and they tend to make closer to 200k or more, but that isn't normal society.
nah man rich or poor there is too much that's good about life especially in america to be *worried* just be on the grind and do your thing. worry is counterproductive to everything
There was a time in my life (very brief) where I cared about trying to become a millionaire/celebrity/ "Rich". I believe I was in Jr. High. Im 26 now and my parents used to always drill into my head that I had to be more successfull than them cause they were more successful than their parents and that was "The American Way". I went to college, became an Accountant and make enough money to live decently. I only did that though because I wanted to make them happy. Even though i'm an accountant, I could honestly care less about how much money I make in my lifetime. Do I save? yes. Am I cheap? yes. But I decided at a young age I wasn't going to let money run my life and "define who I was". As long as i have a roof over my head, food to eat and am not living from paycheck to paycheck, IM HAPPY Success and hapiness in life is not defined by how much money you accumulate or materialistic goods you own. Rather its about the EXPERIENCES you have and the people you love. Thats why I work simply to make enough money to survive and I try to have as fullfilling an outside life as possible. I splurge on Food and Entertainment. Pure and simple. Everything else is just a waste and not necessary. Also, I've realized that Luxury apts are the BIGGEST waste of money on earth. Like seriously, why the heck would you spend $1400+ on a 1 br apt? That's just r****ded.
i wish i could rep you.. but if i was single and had money to spare, I'd splurge a little on my place if I got an amazing vista of downtown houston.
Yeah, I guess I can see it if you're single and trying to impress....but then again you'd be impressing the wrong type of girl. Its still a helluva lot of money especially if you're only spending it with the hopes of getting laid. Might as well get a somewhat classy hooker for the same amount haha. Btw, have you checked out the inner loop girls profiles on Match.com? Talk about some gold digger b*tches. Some of them won't even date a guy unless he makes $150,000+. I got lucky finding my gf offline, and even though she comes from rich Swiss parents, she lives like she makes hardly any money at all. Completely non-materialistic and superficial. Now Those are the types of girls that you want to attract! Too bad they're mostly in Europe cause America has *****ed most of its women up in the head.
Except that there are approximately 200,000 illegal Indian immigrants in the US and the median household income of Indians were only $88,000 (compared to $200,000). Those parents who do not make close to $200,000 are not counted as Indians, fuvk yeah. Common sense statistics did not evade you man. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_American#Economics
Your boss must like your thinking a lot so that they can harvest more profits into their pocket. Nobody complains, so it's ok to have more economic disparity...the hell with good old America with evener wealth distribution.
This certainly isn't my philosophy, but I thought it was funny. They say that money Can't buy love in this world But it'll get you a half-pound of cocaine And a sixteen-year old girl And a great big long limousine On a hot September night Now that may not be love But it is all right - Randy Newman
