Otherwise I will drink tap, I don't like the taste of most other branded bottled water.. I know I'm over paying, but so many factors can effect the taste of water IMO..I.E. a room temperature glass of tap really doesn't taste as good as a room temperature bottle of water.. If the water is ice cold I can do tap just fine.. Some people dont rise off their dishes well and drinking tap from one of those glasses can cause some odd tastes too also ice can play a factor too.. BTW IMO some of the best water I've ever had is the tap water from Breckenridge Colorado.. Yeah, I'm picky so what!?!?! Flame away..
Ima, you are either just a cheap b*stard or uneducated. If you think tap water is the same as filtered water then you need to take some time and do a bit of research. There is a reason tap water doesn't taste fresh like bottled/purified water, because there is crap in it. Crap that is not good for you. Now, to answer your questions, no I do not buy bottled water, I don't like the plastic bottles, and I think it costs too much. I do however have a 5 gallon ozarka dispenser at th house that I fill up for 1 DOLLAR. I also have a filtering system on the house so my tap and shower water are filtered. Drinking standard tap water is a risk that I choose not to take, and it doesn't cost me much money to avoid it and tastes nasty.
You're the one who is uneducated. In many cases, bottled water has been tested as containing even more bacteria and microscopic foreign matter than tap water. Do you know why? Because the bottled water industry has little to no regulation, whereas municipal tap water has a very high degree of regulation. Don't fall for the pretty label. In most cases, tap is just as healthy or healthier than bottled.
This thread reminds me of an exhibit at the Ontario Science Center in Toronto. They had 3 unlabeled water fountains: one with filtered water, one with bottled water, and one with plain old Toronto tap water. You could taste test each water fountain and enter the one you liked best into a computer, and then view the statistics afterwards. If I recall correctly, the statistics showed that plain old Toronto tap water was the clear winner, with bottled water second and filtered water third. My girlfriend and I both preferred the water fountain with the tap water. However, at home she always drinks filtered. I drink tap.
I believe that tap is just as healthy if not healthier than bottled water, but do you also think it tastes as good? Is that what everyone in this thread is saying, that there's no difference in taste as well? I can't imagine that. I mean, I've had tap in Canada and Colorado (crisp and refreshing) and I've had tap all over Texas (including Waco, the worst) and I gag nearly every time. Now, at my parents' house I drink water from the fridge, have so for years. But the sink? I can definitely taste the difference. If I put it through the filtration pitcher, it loses the aftertaste and tastes like nothing. Straight from the tap...ugh.
Please back up your claim with evidence. I have a plethora of links, studies, stories in my holster, ready to fire back. If you want to do this, let's rock and roll.
When I lived in NM and AZ, the taste of the water sucked and we always had the 5 gallon containers delivered. Now that I'm in Oregon, the tap water here is sweet. It seriously rivals anything I've had in a bottle. Plus, if you want it cold, it's always cold, even in the middle of summer.
Why do you think that is? There aren't many refineries, chemical plants and industry in vail colorado or Canada. The crap you taste hasn't leaked into the groundwater supply. Houston tap water is disgusting. How about we drink some tap water in New Orleans?
Vinsanity (or whoever you were before you re-registered under that name), I'm sorry if I offended your bottled water sensibilities, but why don't you read the entire thread before you make yourself look like an ASS by dropping the dull, childish insults...
No thanks. You can keep your plethora. I would suggest that you read Inside The Bottle: An Expose Of The Bottled Water Industry and Bottlemania: How Water Went on Sale and Why We Bought It.
Of course. I even said this earlier: What bothers me is when people automatically assume that tap is bad and that bottled is always automatically better. That's simply not true. In most cases, tap is perfectly fine. Also, bottled water doesn't always have the high standard of quality that most people assume it does.
I buy it for the convenience mostly. I drink one on my way to work usually with my breakfast, and also take one when I go workout. I fill up the one I take to work continuously throughout the day from the big water cooler. Otherwise at home I have one of those water filter pitchers that I just fill up from the tap. So I don't normally use more than 2 a day, if even that. And I buy the cheapest 24 pack I can find, usually Kroger or Nestle brand.
Well played, juicystream. AND THEN... what, you lick THEM? I don't see you're bringing "dogs" up or your point. Spoiler <object width="480" height="295"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/5IYDNymkUZc&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/5IYDNymkUZc&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="295"></embed></object> I'm sorry, dude... I can't help thinking of that every time I hear that word...
I voted "no", but I do buy a bottle of water when I'm on a roadtrip and haven't planned ahead. But like many others in the thread, I think much of the bottled water industry is a scam.
I would like to thank you for absolutely ruining my day. I buy Dasani by the truckload. Well, I used to. I just read a few PDF documents from here... http://www.insidethebottle.org/ yikes. I had no idea.
We replace the filter in our refrigerator and just get water from there. I think bottled water is a rip off.
