So would you take the money instead of getting justice for your allegedly molested son? If my son was molested, there is no way I'm taking a pay off and let the molester get off free. You don't put a price tag on your own children.

I'm so tired of all this coverage. CNN's headliner is "Jackson's Daughter: I love him so much"

    Really? No ****?

I don't think he was sadistic enough to actually molest them, I think he just had Peter Pan complex where he was trying to relive his childhood. He also had a terrible relationship with his father so he probably saw this as a way to give kids the nurturing he never had.

Wasn't there a poll done where 75% of the people did not believe Micheal molested anyone. Based on this poll it just shows there are a lot of hatters on this board.

Here's some hip hop and r&B songs that directly sampled Michael Jackson and Jackson 5 music.

    We'll never know the truth.

I don't think he did it. I remember hearing about the allegations when I was growing up but never really believed or cared enough.

If it was my child, I would not accept a settlement because I sure would want to see him in the jail!

He was just an easy target because he was unstable. I really feel bad for him...he sacrified his childhood to be Michael Jackson.

    pgabriel,

I hear ya man and agree for the most part. To me, Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder are the 2 greatest R&B/soul singers ever. Michael was great but I feel that Marvin and Stevie had the better bodies of work. I mean both Marvin and Stevie were trailblazers - if it weren't for them, there would have been no Michael Jackson (seriously).

What I mean is that it took Marvin and Stevie to buck Barry Gordy's Motown system which was make an album that had 1 or 2 hit singles and load it up with b-sides, cover songs, and other assorted filler. When Marvin released "What's Going On" in the early '70s, Gordy didn't want to release it because he didn't think it was commercial. After only threatening to leave the label did Gordy release it. It wound up being one of Motown's best selling albums ever (which of course was shattered by Thriller but that album bested many albums). Thanks to Marvin's bold move of wanting to be in control of his career, HIMSELF, that allowed Stevie Wonder to do the same.

I don't care if the only albums he ever released were "Talking Book", "Innervisions", "Fulfillingness First Finale", and "Songs in the Key of Life", you are not going to find 4 better albums and all released in a row! I dare say that Stevie's run was even better than what Dylan had in the '60s when he was releasing "Bringing It All Back Home", "Highway 61 Revisited", and "Blonde on Blonde".

Michael Jackson's career, to me musically, reached its commercial and critical zenith with "Thriller". However, I do feel that "Off the Wall" is the better album. It was inevitable that he would have a letdown after "Thriller" with "Bad" yet it ("Bad") ranks as one of the greatest follow-up albums to a classic album ever. About the only other album that I would think that comes close to it is Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" (their follow-up to "Dark Side of the Moon"). However, after "Bad", Jackson lost me. "Dangerous" had some good songs but it was not as consistent compared to the 3 albums before it.

I wouldn't call it a well-known fact but you can tell that both Gaye and Wonder had huge influences on Michael Jackson. Just listen to "Got to Give It Up" by Marvin and then listen to "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" - almost carbon copies of each other but both outstanding songs (and I am not saying that Michael "stole" from Marvin - he just was influenced by him).

And if you go by samples from rappers and hip hop artists, James Brown, Parliament/Funkadelic/George Clinton/Bootsy's Rubber Band, and Zapp/Roger are probably more sampled than Michael Jackson and the Jackson Five although those 2 acts are sampled more than your average artist.

That's a question to ask the Mayor.
But the city will make a bucketload of money off of MJ's passing FOREVER that's my opinion why. Fan's will flock from all over the world not just to see Neverland or visit the home in Encino but even those that could care less about Basketball will stop at Staples just to see the place that MJ's memorial took place.

HELL NO! I would not have let me children sleep with Michael Jackson. I would also not let my children sleep with you, or anyone else on this site, or Peter King, or anyone else who has brought up the same question you did. Why? Don't know any of you.

Oh snap, I was beaten on the chart. :(

And that chart is just a couple. There are bound to be more songs sampled from Michael Jackson.

As a father myself, No amount of money would stop me from going after a Molester of my child. If MJ really did Molest those kids, then why would the father of the alleged victim accept the settlement money? I would fight to the bitter end if somebody really did molest my kid. I surely wouldn't have settled out of court for no kind of money.

What exactly do you mean by "overzealous"? Are you referring to the influence that Marvin Gaye had on Michael Jackson (hell, pretty much every singer in r&b)? How is it "overzealous" to say that Michael Jackson was influenced by Marvin Gaye, Hmm? Are you telling me that he wasn't?

Oh and there was probably no one who had a sadder life and tragic way of dying than Marvin Gaye. Talk about messed up - addicted to drugs (especially cocaine), tax issues, women problems, and terrible relationship with his dad - such a great talent who had it together on stage and in the recording studio but was nowhere close of having it together in the other aspects of his life.
