nothing wrong to think he's overrated....but his musical influence is undeniable.

Jay Z for one, and I don't listen to much rap.

Do you do anything other than argue? Ever?

Did he have sex or contact of a sexual nature with them? No, I don't think he did.

Did he conduct himself in a way with children that would leave him beyond reproach and undoubtedly innocent if a gold digging family saw a way to get an easy payday? No, he didn't do that either.

Unfortunately, the man (for whatever reason) was naive enough to think that he would be immune to scrutiny in that regard. It's sad too, because that's the only real blemish on an otherwise wonderful person. Sure, the plastic surgery was extreme, but that in no way makes him a bad person.

It's ironic to me that none of the adults who were kids in the 90's when the allegations were coming out have come forth and said they were abused. The only people we've heard that from are the parents who tried to sue. Surely there should be at least one or two 20-somethings that would have wanted to get paid too.

I agree with those that are saying celebrate his life and accomplishments and let him rest in peace.

he's not simply stating that it isn't his cup of tea.. that would be understandable.. what he's doing is calling into question the very merit of the music.. that's unreasonable..

Yes it is. I've read this sentence three times and still can't figure out "i can some of his songs sampled to."

    maybe here's the issue.

you don't doubt his impact on pop music.. "but when it comes to actual music" you're not feeling it?

what does that even mean? Pop music isn't "actual music" ? Seems to be a disconnect somewhere..

And I think you haven't been out much if you think you didn't hear his music a lot (esp. for an artist who hasn't put a top hit out in 15-20 years or whatever) before he died. Though it seems like you have.. so I'm just not sure what to think

Separate the art from the man, I said in the big MJ thread then I got slammed for that comment by Master Baiter. I mean do that during mourning time, let his family, his children and his fans grieve. Give him a respectful burial.

Then AFTERWARD roast him for all his trangressions. :) There's plenty of time for that, and plenty MJ incriminating material to sound off on.

70/30 he did it. Evidence and creepiness factor leans heavily toward that, but the order of the court thought otherwise. Or his settlement money did. Even if he didnt, there's enough ick factor to be turned off by him.

His music appeal was tarnished by the allegations for sure. Though there's a surprising number of times I'm hanging out in club and bar areas and "Dont Stop Til You Get Enough" and "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin" gets played to good crowd reception. Michael Jackson was a video star for sure, but I think its complimentary that his NON-mega video songs get more play. Cuz they're good. PYT might not rank among the greats, but how can you hate a song like that?

My 50 pesos ... from someone who does not own a single MJ CD but does like 3-4 songs from Off The Wall and Thriller ...

Chicks think that MJ is uber sensitive. And macho guys think that MJ must be a *** (edit: f-a-g).

When a macho guys hears that MJ likes to sleep with little boys, they then think that MJ is now a perve and a ***, if they did not think that already. They also may be projecting what would happen if they sleep in a bed full of 12 year old girls, whatever their best intentions would be.

Obviously I never knew MJ personally, but my best guess is that MJ was asexual.

okay, i stand corrected on that point, but i have to admit, some of these songs i don't where the mike sample is.

for instance, know where in "all eyez on me" do I hear "pyt" so i don't think sample is the best word i should have chosen

I did not bash him in both thread, you are incorrect. I said in the other thread that I thought the coverage of him was excessive and I questioned why the tax payers were paying for the funeral at the Staples Center. I have not even posted in that thread since this one was started. And again, read the title of the thread
