I'm in 'research mode' and was wondering - do you believe in creation or evolution... and why?

And please keep it civil... no personal attacks.

I get the feeling some folks are going to be pretty unhappy with your either/or poll.

    Evolution.

BTW, you can believe in God and Evolution. Those concepts are not mutually exclusive.

I don't believe in Evolution or Creation but accept that Evolution is the most likely explanation given the facts presented.

listing two finite answers for something like this is like saying "which of the two elements from the periodic table is your favorite, hydrogen or helium."

Same here. Evolution is compatible with my faith (Islam).

Come on guys. By 'creation' he clearly means something along the lines of a scenario where God created the Earth and humans very much like they are today in the not-so-distant past (thousands rather than billions of years ago). That is not at all compatible with evolution.

Yeah, I was going to add other options... but if somebody believes in evolution which began with creation, i'd assume they'd be fine with marking it as "creation" before adding a further explanation, no?

Where is the option for both? I believe that the Creator put in motion a series of events that led to our evolution.

I suppose this is where the "explain" comes in... it doesn't necessarily need to be Biblical creation.

So do you believe in a personal God? Or just a God who set things into motion?

I think you should have specified what kind of evolution you are speaking of. Human evolution (from apes), plant evolution, prokaryotic evolution? There are so many out there. Personally I believe man was created (Adam and Eve ftw), not evolved, but other forms of evolution do exist.

... and 'evolution' just encapsulates every other possibility?

    2 Peter 3:8 tells us:

But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.

so, in my understanding, God transcends our human understanding of time. A day to God can be millions of years. I do believe God Created life as we know it. For me, Evolution could easily be HOW God Created us.

so to answer your question..Yes..to Both.

Good luck with your research, but you'll find a lot of people have similar ideas somewhere in the middle ground.

Tell us why we should care what the Bible says.
